I wrote furiously as more and more papers flooded into my office. Today was a busy day for everyone in the electoral collage. It just so happened to be that news was getting around that the capital might of found a possible candidate to run for President. Draft over draft was dispatched from the capital on who it might be. Feverishly writing against the clock, trying to file in all documents sent into New York as Congressmen bickered upstairs waiting for an answer from the capital.
"Here's the last of the documents sent in today sir." I breath handing a man that lady of the papers needed for the meeting.
"Thank you." He said stoutly as he took the paper closing my office door behind him.
I took a deep sighed as I leaned back heavily into my chair letting my heartbeat settled as my hand throbbed with pain. I could hear some of the conversation going on up above.
Finally for what seemed like a day, the meeting soon came to an end. That meant two things, that the house finally found a candidate to run against Adams and Jefferson or they were still looking for an answer and called the meeting for another day. I prayed that I wouldn't be spending another day down here doing other people's work. I was curious in what the results were as I got my coat on and blew out the candles as I made my way up the stairs and down the hall. Most of the men had departed but some were talking between themselves in front of the door.
"Pardon me, but I couldn't help but wonder who got nominated for the candidate for this upcoming election?" I asked two men who turned to me looking between themselves.
"Well surprisingly, its New York's senator Aaron Burr." The man replied.
I blinked, not believing what I just herd.
"I beg pardon?" I breathed.
"Ha,who would of thought, that man just appeared from nowhere." The other man said with a slight chuckle.
I looked between the two men before giving them a quick nod.
"Thank you." I said walking passed them as I opened the door.
I looked around the steps of the hall. The sun was slowly sinking in the sky as a cold wind blew leaves around the streets. A took a staggering breath as I made my way straight towards the Burr's residence.
Thousand of questions fluttered my mind. I mean I was inspired that Burr was running for President, but it didn't seem like him to make that big of a move so quickly. The last rays of sun shone on the roofs of houses as I got to the steps of the house. I entered as I met Burr passing to his study.
"Ezio." He greeted.
"Sir.." I breathed trying to catch my breath.
"Y...you're?" I stammered my words scrambling in my befuddled brain.
"I know, surprised?" Burr laughed.
I took a short breath before I spoke again.
"Running for president?" I breathed.
Burr shrugged as he looked down at me intelligently.
"What do I have to loose, I'm in a good position and with me being senator of New York, well that puts me in a political advantage." Burr said quickly, having this strange, crazed sense in his speech that wasn't like him at all.
"Sir, I am inspired by your choice but just think for one moment." I wheezed my tone lowering.
Burr sighed as he looked down at the floor.
"Listen, I know it's not like me to be making these haste decisions but I do feel confident next November." Burr said a gleam in his eye.
I took a long breath as I frowned.
"And what if it's not? You'll be under Jefferson's wing for four years until you'll be able to have a change again if you don't get the votes." I warned.
Burr shook his head slowly seeming to push away my ill words.
"I know it may seem impossible now but when the voting is arranged I'm going to be chasing for what I want." Burr said steadily.
I sighed, there was no reasoning with Burr now.
"Yes sir." I murmured.
Burr gave a slight huff as he walked into the study.
Let's hope next year will be a promising one.
