I buried my nose into the flap of my coat as I made my way down to City Hall. The smell of chimney smoke wavered through the city as smoke billowed out of the houses. Carriages and wagons rattled down the streets as the drivers were masked in blankets, the horses tempered breath drifted into the air as they passed. I blinked away the tiredness in my eyes as the early morning sun rose from the parted clouds.
From the relatively peaceful morning, it was soon came to an end by the distance shouting coming from the direction of City Hall. Confused and worried I turned the corner to City Hall. I stepped in my tracks as I looked onward in shock. A group of people stood in front of the doors as their shouts rung clear into the frosty air.
"John Adams, that coward!" One shouted.
"Your Administration can't hide forever!" Another erupted.
I took a long breath as I looked on with a sinking feeling. I needed to fix this before the protestors tore the whole building to pieces.
I snuck my way around the crowd as I came to the front doors.
"Attention please!" I shouted angrily at the crowd.
"Who the hell are you!" One shouted as the rest of the crowd turned their heads in my direction.
"Ezio Auditore, Secretary of New York's  City Hall." I retorted.
"How about you tell Adams to get his fat ass out here!" The crowd exploded.
I stared coldly at the crowd of people. There could be a hundred reasons why the crowd was so angry with Adams. I thought it was quite stupid and irrational that these people acted so hostile towards a man who is trying to do his best to into someone's shoes.
" I would advise you to go home, your waiting your time out here in the cold protesting about non other than your own selves." I sighed with a raised brow.
The people looked dumbfounded up at me as they showed no means of backing down. I turned shaking my head as I walked into the hall, turning my back to the crowd to argue with themselves.
Why was my job so stressful and unrewarding?
I walked down the hall angrily as I stormed into the conference room. I saw Adams looking nervously outside like a dog with his tail between his legs.
"Mr.Adams!" I hissed.
Startled Adams turned with a fright. When he saw me he eased a bit.
"Thank god you're here Mr.Auditore." He said relived.
I looked at him with narrowing eyes as I took a step into the room.
"Would you care to explain what the hell is going on outside these doors!?" I shouted.
Adams faces dropped as he saw my ill temper.
"Well you see, I was walking towards City Hall early this morning as was suddenly barked at by a crowd of people who followed me a stoned me, calling me sickening names." Adams frowned.
"Quite disrespectful." Adams added.
I shook my head.
"With all honesty sir, it seems like recently you've been hiding from your enemy's, locking yourself up to be quite an unappealing President." I spoke sternly.
Adams sighed as he looked out the window.
"What ever must I do..." He breathed.
"These past few years have been the worst years of my life." Adams said defeatedly.
I sucked in a quick breath. As much as I wasn't too keen with Adams I knew his presidency wasn't a good one, almost shameful against Washington.
"What shall we do about the crowd?" Adams asked.
I looked outside then back to him cooly.
"Either you can confront them or hide between these walls presenting yourself to the public as a coward." I huffed.
"If you excuse me, I have some work to do." I growled.
With that I turned my back to Adams as I walked out of the room.
The endless amount of work stood stacked on my desk as I got to work.
The candles that stood besides my desk didn't produce much heat as the whole hall felt drafty and cold. The morning slowly slid into the afternoon as a winter storm blew into the city. Snow fell fast and hard.
With much debate with myself I finally did what I could get done as I packed up the rest to do back at Burr's residence.
I shivered as I walked up the stairs and into the main hall. Opening the door took much effort as snow and wind blew into the building. I clutched my papers close to my chest as I walked back to Burr's house. The wind blew hard onto my face as the snow swirled around me. The snow covered the ice streets as I slipped a couple of times.
My fingers went numb as my cheeks burned as I walked inside the household.
Luckily a fire was burning warmly as heat rose through out the house. I looked around cautiously, fearing that Theodoisa caught me in this state she would scold me until the sun rose.
Luckily enough I made my way up the stairs and into my room without anyone spotting me. For the remainder of the day as I sat curled at my desk writing until the late hours of night a snow stil fell from above.

What seemed like years of bitter cold the snow finally melted as it gave way to a fresh breath of air. Flowers bloomed as tress grew their green leaves as they fluttered merrily in the wind. Finally things were looking up for me as the death of Washington soon was only a memory that I kept in my heart. As the weather warmed it seemed like for a long time congress was at ease as I finally had some spare time to catch up on some reading and finishing up some writing, letting the spring months come in like a lamb.
