"The carriage will be here in fifteen minutes Ezio!" Burr called form outside my door.
"Alright." I replied with a smile.
I buttoned my last button on my overcoat. Burr let me wear on of his suits for the evening, one he would say in his own words rubbish. I wore a brilliant navy coat, with a white blouse under it and a ruffled neck piece over it. To top it off, gold laced cuffs and buttons on the waist coat. I looked in the window, admiring how strikingly handsome I presented myself to be. I dabbed my fingers in oil as I slicked my hair back and tied it into a neat ponytail. I walked over to my bed, putting on my black leather boots as I existed my room. A half skipped down the stairs as I saw Burr waiting for me by the door, his hands behind his back. Looking at me with a raises brow.
"Very striking Ezio." Burr scoffed.
I looked at him with a charming grin.
"Not bad yourself sir." I laughed admiring his dark violet suit.
I saw Theodoisa walk out of the kitchen, her eyes widening when she saw me.
" Oh my, look you just came from fancy town." She laughed as she walked up to me.
"You're too kind." I said sarcastically.
She smiled at me, her face warm as she sighed looking dreamingly at me. I looked away with a goofy grin, scratching the back of my head.
"Ezio, it's time to go." Burr said as he opened the door.
"I hope you have a nice time at the party." Theodoisa cooed.
" I will." I smiled taking her hand, kissing it.
I looked back at her face as it turned bright read as she looked away shyly.
"Arrivederci." I said with a wink turning away.
Burr gave me a cold stare as I filled in before him into the carriage. Burr stepped inside, taking a seat across form me.
" Did you go to many festivities when you lived in Italy?" Burr asked as the carriage lurched forward.
I shook my head.
"Nah, I found them quite boring when I was younger." I laughed.
" I just imagined a bunch of old people talking about politics and who died yesterday."
Aaron Burr laughed.
" Well I hope you understand that party's here are way more interesting than what you may imagined." He smiled.
It was about a three hour ride down to Mount Vernon where Washington was hoisting the event. The sun dipped down between the trees that enclosed us for most of the ride. Ridding along the coastline, I saw big ships entering New York harbor in the distance, their huge masts glistened in the sun. I thought about all the places they've traveled form carrying trade goods, immigrants...slaves. I sighed as I looked back at Burr who was holding a paper.
"I almost forgot, your invitation." Burr said handing me the paper.
I took it and read what was written."Dear Ezio Auditore,
You have been proudly selected to join me at a reception that I'll be hoisting (on today's date). I've been reading some of the work you've been sending to congress and I have found it very prominent and truthful. Your writing and choice of words are very impressive for a man of your age. I hope you maintain this special skill that you've obtained through the years. I hope to see you there.
George Washington."I smiled thoughtfully as I tucked the invitation inside my pocket. The time past as Burr and I talked about plans for upcoming dates. Finally after a very long three hours, Burr pointed to a large house in the distance. I took a nervous breath in as I saw carriages already lined up next to the Washington's estate. The driver winded up the hill as it came to a stop. The driver opened the door as we were let out, I followed Burr.
" Thank you." I murmured to the driver as we past.
He gave me a nod as he adjusted his wig he closed the carriage door. I walked along side Burr as we made our way to the front door. A man in fancy blue uniform came up to us.
" Invitations?" He asked.
Burr and I handed our invitations to the man. He stepped aside.
" Have a nice time here at Mount Vernon." He said with a bow as we past.
We walked inside as my stomach twisted as we came to the main first room.
"Right this ways gentlemen." A man said as he opened a door into another room.
Noise exploded into the room. People talked amongst themselves, some strolling around the room. A band accompanied the eloquent atmosphere. I looked at Burr who gave me a slight smile.
"I bet you haven't seen this before." He said with a small laugh.
"No sir." I breathed as I looked around the room.
Burr chuckled as he walked off to talk to someone. I looked around nervously, fixing my coat as I kept my chin high, trying to look proper as I could. Some people pasted with curious faces. Some young ladies walked by as I winked at them.
"He's so cute." I heard one pipe up.
"Shush, he'll hear you." The other hissed.
I laughed in amusement as I watch them walk pass, their faces blushing as they looked back at me.
"Ezio Auditore." A familiar voice said behind me.
I turned. Alexander Hamilton stood there along with a women I didn't know.
"Alexander." I greeted with a smile.
"How are you this fine evening?" Hamilton asked.
" I'm doing well, how about you?" I asked.
Hamilton shrugged.
"I've never really like these meetings, all my peers surrounding me." Hamilton laughed softly.
"Anyways I want to say congratulations, it's a real horror to be here...keep up the good work." He winked.
"Thank you." I smiled.
Alexander turned to his partner with a smile.
"Ezio, I would like you to meet my wife." Hamilton said.
" Eliza Hamilton." She greeted with a warm smile.
"A pleasure to meet you madam." I said with a bow.
Alexander looked back at me.
" You look quite striking tonight." Alexander smiled.
I chucked.
"Not bad yourself, Mr.Hamilton." I said.
"Champaign." A man in a blue uniform said offering it to Hamilton and Eliza.
"Thank you." The both said taking a glass.
I watched as he passed me rather quickly.
"Damn kids." He hissed.
I looked back at Hamilton with a confused look, Hamilton rolling his eyes.
"Don't worry about it, here you can have mine." He said offering his glass.
Before I could take the glass a voice called form behind me.
"Ezio." Burr's voice called.
I turned.
" I would like you to meet someone." He said.
I turned back to Hamilton and Eliza,
giving them an apologetic look.
"Excuse me for one moment." I said.
I turned following Burr.
"Ezio, I would like you to meet my two close friends." Burr said gesturing to two men.
"Thomas Jefferson, how do you do kid." The tall one spoke with a sly grin.
I shook his hand.
"Ezio Auditore." I replied dubiously.
I turned to the other man.
"James Madison." He spoke up.
"Pleased to meet you." I said shaking his hand.
Burr turned back to Jefferson and Madison.
"This is my apprentice who's been working with me for quite some time." Burr explained.
"Yeah..I've heard of ya, you've been writing some stuff for the New York's gazette am I right?" Jefferson sneered.
"Correct." I said a little annoyed with Jefferson's judgmental attitude.
"He's also been helping me write essays and letters to help with the progress of congress." Burr added.
Madison nodded diligently.
"That is good, it is always good to have someone who understands what we're trying to accomplish to build this nation." Madison said with a thoughtful expression.
"Well isn't that good to here." Jefferson said sarcastically.
I looked at Jefferson with an angered look, but sighed pushing my words down. All of a sudden a voice shouted form the front of the room.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to the pride of Mount Vernon, our President , George Washington." The man proclaimed.
The room applauded as George Washington, a rather tall man walked into the room, wearing his generals uniform smiled at the applauding crowd. My heart pounded as I watch him go around the room talking to all who wanted to introduce themselves to the president (though most of the people in the room have seen him on many accounts). I watched as Thomas Jefferson, Madison and Burr walked over to greet George Washington. I slipped away, turning back to a spot in the room, watching anxiously. As I waited for what I wasn't quite sure, a watched as the President walked over to me. I swallowed hard as I stood up strait with my shoulder back.
"I haven't seen your face before." Washington said with a kind smile.
I cleared my throat.
"Ezio Auditore, it's a honor to be here
Mr.President." I said my chest held high.
"That's right, I remember you." He chuckled.
I could see curious eyes watching us as we talked.
" I'm glad you could make it here tonight." Washington said.
"I've been wanting to speak with you for quite some time."
I looked nervously at him.
"Come let's walk." He said.
I walked besides his tall figure as we strolled around the room.
"Your work stands very impressive, for such a young age you are very intelligent." Washington said with a slight smile.
"Thank you sir." I stammered.
"So what brought you here to America?" Washington asked.
I paused.
"My father years ago sailed here to America to invest in a trade route form here to Italy, wanting to make trade possible between the two countries." I explained.
Washington looked curiously at me.
" You're saying you never got stuff from the colonies before?" He asked.
I shook my head.
" Not exactly, since everything was going to England, we just decided to get our goods from them." I said.
"But being how England is, after years of trading they decided to put taxes on everything we got from them that they got form America, so it brought an uproar of fighting between Italy and England called The Little War Of 1778 (only lasting about a year and a half at most)."
Washington nodded with a curious look.
"I see." He murmured.
"Well anyways while my father was in America he met Aaron Burr becoming great friends, hence why Burr is mentoring me now." I explained.
"My father was called back to Italy to help fight in the war, unfortunately he died in combat." I paused with a frown.
Washington looked at me with an apologetic look.
"After my mother died shortly after, my uncle wanted me to sail to America but never got the money until years latter. He wanted me to get a proper education here and said on my own time I could go back home and share what I've been studying here in the states." I finished.
I looked back at Washington who nodded slowly.
"Well I hope you can make the most you can here in America." He said confidently.
"I plain well sir." I smiled.
"Keep up your good work Ezio." Washington said extending his hand.
I shook his hand as he gave me a firm nod. He walk off starting a new conversation with Hamilton. I took a deep breath. Something inside me clicked. I felt like I could do the impossible, like I had that power to make my ideas become a reality.
I noticed Aaron Burr at the door, looking around seemed like he was ready to go. I walked over to him as he spotted me.
"It's a long ride back to New York, so we must get going." He explained.
I nodded as I looked around one last time. We were led out of the room and out the main doors.
"Thank you for coming." The same man in the blue uniform said with a nod.
We walked up to where our carriage sat. The driver was asleep, snoring loudly. I couldn't help but laugh when Burr knocked on the carriage startling the driver awake.
"Alright, keep your hats on!" The driver growled.
We got into the carriage as we made our way back to New York, the moon on our backs as stars twinkled faintly above.
The carriage halting to a stop right outside the house. Burr paid the driver kindly as we walked inside. The house was dark except for a candle that flickered by the door, casting eerie shadows on the wall. Burr looked back at me with a smile.
"Take a break tomorrow Ezio, we all need it." Burr grumbled as he walked up the stairs turning back to me at the top.
"Thank you for accompanying me tonight." Burr said with a small smile.
"You're welcome." I replied.
I sighed as I followed him up the stairs and into my room. My body ached for sleep but I decided to write my uncle."Dear Uncle,
The date is April 21 1796. These past few months have been eventful. My work getting past around by more people has been a small but growing advantage to my public career. I've been requested to write in the local Gazette about events and progress about the Government here. Not to brag or anything but even the President admires my writing skills saying in his own words "stands very impressive". I mean not to hasten but you still haven't written me back. If you can I would enjoy your thoughts on my progress in America.
Con Amore, Ezio Auditore."A few weeks past, still busy as ever under the floorboard of City Hall. Sometimes I can overhear Jefferson slamming facts upon Hamilton and having Hamilton retorting back usually winning the hot tempered conversation. Ever since the reception I couldn't stop thinking about Washington's words about my capability. One day I was meet downstairs with a surprise.
