The warm summers breeze blew through the bustling city. Carts lurched by and people scurried two and fro as I gazed around the intersection. I crossed my arms as I leaned against a post gazing between the crowds of people.
"What about that one?" I asked nodding towards a group of ladies who talked to each other across the street.
Philip looked over at my gaze as he sucked in a quick breath.
"I don't know...they're kinda pretty." Philip murmured looking skeptical at the women.
I gave an amusing smile as I rubbed my chin.
"When why don't you go talk to them...first impressions are the most important." I shrugged.
Philip gave me a unamused look as he looked hesitantly across the street.
"You did say you were a "Romeo" are you not?" I gave Philip a sly smile.
Philip rolled his eyes as he nodded.
"Yes...well." Philip's voice cracked.
I stood up from my post as I prodded Philip forward.
"Well, give it a try...I'll be right behind you." I laughed pushing Philip across the street.
I pushed Philip into the curb as he almost tripped getting the ladies attention. Philip hissed at me as he cleared his throat and walked confidently over to the women.
"Good afternoon ladies." Philip cooed his voice cracking.
The ladies looked up at poor Philip with a disgusted look.
"I just wanted to...uh...tell you how pretty you ladies look today." Philip flirted giving them his best smile.
I tried my best not to burst out laughing as the women stood utterly still, not giving poor Philip their interest.
"...and I was wondering if I could get your names?" Philip asked.
One of the ladies rolled her eyes while the other two giggled to themselves.
"Nothing you'll make any use of." The lady scoffed as she turned away rejecting poor Philip.
"Oh well." Philip sighed as he turned back to me.
I laughed as I looked sympathetically at the discouraged Philip.
"There's always a next time my friend, you just need practice." I smiled.
Philip crossed his arms as he rolled his eyes.
"Like you could do any better." He laughed.
I looked at him as he immediately bit his tongue.
"Is that a challenge?" I said with a gleam, looking around.
"How about that one over there." Philip pointed at the end of the street.
"Alright...alright." I said rubbing my hands together as I approached the lady, Philip following behind.
"Excuse me miss, I hate to interrupt but I can't help admiring how beautiful you look." I greeted my accent rolling off my tongue as I kept my voice low.
The brown haired women blushed as she looked up at me.
"Thank you sir, your quite handsome yourself." She cooed.
"Grazie Signora." I purred swaying her with my accent.
"Maybe if I see you again...we could find something else to do." I flirted with a wink.
"Possibly if I see you again..." she blushed looking down at her dress.
"Of course." I smiled giving her a kiss on her hand with a bow.
I watch her as she blushed deeply walking across the street. I slowly turned to Philip giving him a sheepish smile.
"Alright...you proved me wrong." Philip laughed crossing his arms.
I laughed as I looked brightly at Philip. I looked around as we both fell bored with our spot. We made our way across the city as we busily talked to each other. Not having a direct direction in mind.
"So, how is schooling going for you?" I asked gazing ahead.
Philip huffed as he looked at me with a sense of excitement.
"I've been soaring in my studies, I might be the latest graduate by early fall!" Philip cheered.
I looked at him with a sense of pride.
"That's wonderful!" I laughed.
Philip nodded as he looked across the street before turning back to me.
"My father says after I get finished up with Kings Collage, he'll be putting me straight into the official practice of law by next year..I might even work next to you down at City Hall if I get good enough." Philip said his voice beaming.
The thought of Philip working side by side with me enlightened everything I had to face at City Hall.
"I'm sure you'll do phenomenal." I smiled looking at the nineteen-year old.
Our spirited discussion was cut short when a voice sneered behind me.
"Hey kid!" Jefferson called from behind us.
I turned with a sigh as Philip looked between us with curiosity.
"What is it Jefferson?" I hissed not wanting to deal with Jefferson in any manner.
"Mr.Adams wants you down at City Hall immediately, there's a meeting starting to fill and he wants you to be there when it happens." Jefferson snapped crossing his arms.
I took a long breath as the ice was thinning to much with Jefferson's cocky attitude.
"If he requests me...I'll be there." I sighed.
Jefferson looked down at me with a sly smile as he adjusted his cane.
"Good, be there in ten." Jefferson said with a drowning tone.
With that Jefferson turned with his nose held high as he strode down the street.
I groaned as I shook my head.
"My apologies, I have to get going." I sighed as I looked back at Philip.
Philip gave me a sympathetic look as he nodded briefly.
"Good look at the meeting, I assume I'll be seeing you again?" Philip asked.
I nodded with a small smile.
"Count on it friend." I said.
With that Philip and I parted ways as I made my way briskly towards City Hall. So much for having a day off.
I poked my head inside the meeting room as the speaker in front stopped as the whole room stopped and stared at me. Cold sweat rolled down the back of my neck as I cleared my throat and made my way to the correspondence desk. The cold tension soon lifted as the speaking began to speak again as all eyes adverted from my presence. I sighed silently as I picked up my quill and began to write whatever was needed to be written, because I, Ezio Auditore seemed to be in charge of everyones' goddamn work. I lost myself in half of the conversation as the hours ticked by of non-stop complaints. Soon after it seemed like a century passed the meeting soon closed. I took a heavy, tried sigh as I stood up and straightened the stack of papers so I could issue it off to the press for publishing.
I looked around the room observantly as people started to file out into the main hall. I huffed as I followed the men to the door. I quickly dropped off the papers as the press and made my way back to the streets. The sun was setting over the summers day as crickets hummed and a soft breeze rustled the trees as another day swept past in a blink of an eye.
