I nearly fainted.
No, this can't be happening, I thought as I stared at the man who claimed to be my father.
"Oh, but it is," said the man.
Great, now he is reading my mind, I thought as I rolled my eyes.
The man sighed. He was wearing an icy blue robe, like those royal ones you saw in movies. They had those strange... What did Aqurissa call them? Oh ya, hieroglyphics, like in the hall. Over top, I could see a gold sash. He had cyan blue eyes. Hunter has the same colour eyes, I thought.
"I take you have met Hunter, my assistant," said the man approvingly, like his 'assistant' completed this mission.
"Stop reading my mind!!" I yelled.
"Yes, but please learn to speak your mind instead of not speaking and let me read your mind."
"Whatever," I said rolling my eyes.
"I take it you are wondering why I summoned you here."
That got my attention. "Summoned?! No, you had some guy kidnap me from everything I have ever wanted!!" I was shouting now. "My friends, my mom, my boyfriend, everything!!"
Neptune just nodded, then said, "Aqurissa, bring in Hunter."
Aqurissa nodded then left.
I watched her go through the set of doors we didn't come through. "Hunter is here?" I said as I turned by attention back to Neptune.
"Yes, he was to come to your school on your birthday, happy birthday by the way, and watch you in case you phased. But by the looks of it you haven't."
"Thank you. And phased??"
"Yes, it is the-" Neptune was interrupted by a knock at the door.
"You may enter."
Aqurissa entered followed by Hunter. He looked his same gorgeous self. He was wearing robes similar to Neptune's except his didn't have all the markings Neptune's had. Instead of his robes being icy blue, his robes were a orange yellow colour. His blond hair looked like he had just come out of the shower, damp and uncombed.
His eyes met mine. We stared at each other for a few seconds before he looked away.
"Serena, you have already met Hunter," said Neptune, greeting Hunter.
"Hello, Serena," said Hunter with a small smile, staring at me again with his gorgeous blue eyes.
I suddenly recognized his voice. "You," I whispered. "You kidnapped me from my mom! It was you!!"
As I started to walk towards him, I reeled my hand back to slap him across the face. But he was quicker. He grabbed my hand and held it.
"Yes, it was me. But I had to."
"Had to?!" I yanked my hand free from his grasp. I stood there staring at him, anger pulsing through my body.
He didn't answer.
"Why did you take me?" I was no longer yelling but I was still mad and upset.
"Neptune gave me the assignment to watch you and bring you here. Because you're a mermaid."
