Chapter 17

Serena's POV

"What?" I was so confused. "Fiancé? I'm not getting married at sixteen." I crossed my arms.

"Yes, I thought this was the only way to separate you and Hunter." Neptune said as he looked from Jake to Serena.

"Who is Hunter?" Jake asked.

"He was my boyfriend." I glared at Neptune.

"You know I don't approve of my daughter dating my assistance."

"Whatever," I said as I rolled my eyes.

"So, back to business. Wedding plans. I was thinking next week-" Neptune didn't finish.

"Next week?" I stared at Neptune like I couldn't believe what he was saying.

"Yes, I would have it sooner but you and Jake need to get to know each other."

"No! I don't want to marry someone I don't love." Jake looked hurt. "I don't love Jake. I love Hunter and he loves me."

Neptune was about to reply when Jake interrupted. "Sir, if you want I can leave you to talk to Serena alone."

"Yes, please." Neptune looked back at Jake as he nodded and left. Neptune turned back to me. "You are marrying Jake wether you like it or not."

"You can't make me do something I don't want to do."

"Yes, I can because I am your father." Neptune took a step forward.

"Well you wouldn't be my father if you hadn't screwed my mom." I had tears in my eyes.

Suddenly, Neptune brought his hand back and slapped me across the face. It wasn't a hard slap but enough to hurt. I brought my hand up to my cheek. I tasted blood from my cut lip.

Crying, I looked at Neptune, not because I have to marry Jake, but because he slapped me. I never expected it.

Neptune looked horrified, like he just kicked a puppy.

I stormed past him and out the door. "Serena! Wait, I'm sorry. I lost my temper!" I heard Neptune calling after me but I kept running.

When I made it to my room, I saw Aquata come out of Hunter's room, followed by Hunter. They didn't see me and started to walk away from me. Hunter put his arm around Aquata's shoulders. I didn't yell at them but cried harder.

"Serena! Wait, I-" I didn't hear the rest of what Neptune was saying. I went into my room, locked the door and ran onto my bed. I cried the rest of the day.

Hunter's POV

"I'm just as surprised as you are, Aquata." I crossed to room and took her by the elbows. Neptune had just left after telling me that I was engaged. Now Aquata was mad at me for not telling her. And I needed Aquata to make Neptune think I am over Serena. "Come on. You have to believe me." I kissed her lips, her jaw and her shoulder.

She wrapped her arms around my neck. "I know. You looked surprised."

I pulled back and smiled. "Want to go for a swim then lunch?" I kissed her.

"I'd like that." She smiled.

I lead her out of my room. Once she was out, I shut the door and put an arm around her shoulders and walked down the hall. I heard a voice and a door slamming shut. "Serena! Wait, I didn't mean to!"

I turned to see Neptune knocking at Serena's door. Neptune must have told her about me being 'engaged', I thought as kept walking away from Neptune.
