"I'm sorry, did you just say I'm a mermaid?" I was completely confused . My mom is normal, and as far as I'm concerned, so is my dad... Wait, apparently my dad is a fish.
"Yes, I did," Hunter said like being a mermaid is completely normal.
"No! I won't except this! I want to go home, see my mom, my friends and my boyfriend." I turned back to Neptune, tears welling up in my eyes.
"I'm sorry, Serena, but your mother and I had an agreement. On your sixteenth birthday, I would send Hunter to get you and bring you here."
"That's why she said I'm not ready for him to take you," I whispered half to myself.
"Yes. I'm sorry, but you'll never be able to go back to the life you had."
"Yes, I can and I will! You're human and walking. I can stay above land and live with my family."
"I'm in my human form, yes, but mermaids can't stay human for long. They get depressed and become really sick."
"All you have to do is take away the damn curse of me being mermaid!" I'm back to yelling.
Neptune looked at me with hurt in his eyes. "Being a mermaid is not a curse but a gift." He continued to stare at me. "Aqurissa, show Serena back to her room. We are done for today."
"Yes, sir," said Aqurissa as she herded me away from the throne to the set of doors we came in.
Before she shut the doors I was able to get a glimpse of Hunter, staring at me as I left. I felt bad for yelling at him. But he deserved it. He kidnapped me, hit me and brought me someplace I don't want to be.
"You shouldn't have said that being a mermaid is a curse. You have upset Neptune very much," said Aqurissa said as we walked back the way we came.
"Ya, well, he shouldn't have screwed my mom." I was angry at Neptune.
"He loved your mother very much, even though he had to leave and continue his duties in Atlantis."
"Why couldn't he have handed the job down to Hunter?"
"Because Hunter hasn't earned the spot yet."
After that, there wasn't much talking. It was silent all the way to my room.
