Chapter 19

Serena's POV

Today is the day I get to go home for the day. I woke up and looked at the watch that sat on my night stand. It read 8:04.

I got up and put on jeans and a sweater. I quickly brushed my hair and teeth. I wiped my face down and put hair up in pony tail.

I was just leaving the bathroom when there was a knock at the door. I opened the door to find Aqurissa and Neptune. "Hi Aqurissa. Neptune." I said his name with complete disgust.

"Look Serena", I didn't mean to do what I did yesterday. I lost my temper." He went to reach for me but I swapped his hand away.

"I don't want to hear it." I turned and walked back into my room, Neptune and Aqurissa following. "So, what can I help you with?" I sat on my bed.

"Well, as you know, you are going to spend the day with your mother," said Aqurissa.

I smiled. "Yes, I'm really excited!"

"We came to see if you really want to do this. Others couldn't do it because it was too painful to see friends and family for the last time."

I stopped smiling. "Yes. I want to say a proper goodbye and tell them I love them."

Aqurissa smiled a small smile. "I knew you'd say that so there is someone who is to accompany you on your trip. He is to make sure that you return instead of running away." Aqurissa stepped aside to reveal Hunter.

I gasped. I looked at Neptune who had a face of no emotion, then I looked at Aqurissa who was still smiling a small smile.

"But... ? I thought Hunter and I aren't supposed to be alone together?" I looked at Neptune who still had no emotion.

"Aqurissa has persuaded me to let Hunter go with you. She has also talked to me about your relationship. I have thought it over and you know what I thought about when she told me? I thought of me and your mother. She cared so much for me and I cared so much for her. So, you have my permission to date." He smiled the slightest smile, it was like it wasn't even there.

I looked at Hunter who looked confused. This was obviously the first he has heard if this. He saw me watching and smiled. I smiled back as I got up and ran to hug him. He pulled back and kissed me slowly.

Neptune cleared his throat. Hunter and I broke apart and looked at Neptune, Hunter's arm still around me. "So, if you want to spend the whole day with your mother, I suggest you leave now."

"Are you trying to get rid of us?" Hunter asked smiling, and raising an eyebrow.

Neptune only smiled.

Hunter's POV

Serena and I were walking along, holding hands, on Clearwater Beach in Florida. It was almost nine o'clock in the morning.

Serena's feet had turned into fins when they were swimming. Her phase is almost done, all that's left is the tail, which is slowly forming at the waist.

"So, where do you..." I began but stopped. "Where does your mom live? Is she close?"

"Ya, my best friend Kelsey, my mom and I used to come here all the time to go swimming. It was our favorite beach. Now I know why my mom chose it. For two reasons, one, it was close to our house, and two, because Atlantis is here." She looked out over the water.

"It must be hard coming back," I said, my hair blowing in the wind.

"A little. I mean, I'm glad I'm back, it's just that it brings back so many good memories that I can't go back to. That's the hard part." She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

I smiled at her. "Well, you can always make better memories." I squeezed her hand lightly.

"You're right. I need to forget the past and move on." She looked straight and squinted against the sun. Suddenly, she stopped dead in her tracks.

"What's wrong?" I looked at her face which had gone pale.

"It's-it's-" She didn't finish. She took off running in the direction she was looking.

"Serena!" I took off after her.

"MOM!" Serena yelled, running as fast as she could. A woman turned when Serena yelled. When she saw Serena, she dropped to her knees.

Serena had reached the woman and in a second she fell into the woman's arms. "Mom, I missed you."

So Serena is back with her mom!!! But only for a day!
