They went to the hospital the next day, Linda and Paul were waiting in the chairs and Linda was playing with Paul's hand.
"You're gonna be fine." He told her.
"Miss Eastman?" A male nurse called out.
She stood up and left Paul alone as she went into the room. Paul blew her a kiss and winked at her. Paul waited and waited; when they finally came out, Linda wasn't crying but she had an uneasiness in her eyes.
"Hey Sweetie." He smiled.
"Hi." She muttered. "Tests will be ready tomorrow."
Paul nodded and the two left.
When they came home, Prudence had invited Ringo over and they were lying on the couch, Prudence buried in Ringo's jacket.
She was silently crying and Ringo was comforting her.
"Hey." Paul said.
Prudence's head bobbed up at the sound of Paul's voice and she hit Ringo's chin.
"Ow." He groaned.
"Sorry." She apologized with a little grin.
Prudence started coughing and sneezing.
"Cold again?" Paul asked.
She shrugged her shoulders and wiped away the tears on her face.
"Baby, you're burning up." Ringo said as he felt her forehead.
He got her an ice pack and she rested her head on his lap.
She fell asleep and Ringo had to hold the ice pack on her head.
Paul and Linda went to their room and Paul played his new song for Linda.
"I love it." She smiled.
"It's for John." He said.
"I know." She replied.
Paul looked at her, confused. "How?"
"You always talk about John differently than you usually talk or sing, you have a different look in your eyes and you blush." She explained.
Paul blushed.
"John got me this guitar, it was for our anniversary." He told Linda.
"I remember he played one of his songs for me and told me he just wanted me to be happy. That was a few weeks before he killed himself."
"Paul, you don't have talk about him if you don't want to." Linda said.
"It's okay." He responded. "This kinda feels good to get it out. Anyways, we promised that all of our songs would be credited to both of us, so actually all of the songs I write for you, well, John writes 'em too."
"Well then John's a lovely writer too." Linda smiled.
Heather was sleeping in her crib.
Linda groaned.
"What's wrong?" Paul asked.
"Oh, nothing." She lied.
"Okay..." He replied but kept an eye on her.
Linda tried to tell Paul she was fine but Paul could see the pain she was trying to hide.
"Honey, what's the matter?"
"It's noth- Oh my god!" She yelled in pain.
"Linda!" He cried frantically.
She got the pain under control and relaxed.
"What was that?" He asked concerned.
"It's just my chest, I'm fine." She assured him.
Paul placed his hand on her cheek.
"You'll be great." He cheered her up and kissed her.
Paul nuzzled his face into her neck and he held her hand. She wrapped her arms around his waist and kissed him repeatedly.
"I got you a present." Paul whispered.
"Paul, where are you getting all this money from?" She asked him.
"That's not important." He shooed away the topic. "Stay here for a moment."
He came back with his hands behind his back.
"Close your eyes." He told her.
She did and he gave her a kiss while placing something on her head.
"Open."
She did and Paul was holding a mirror for her.
"Paul, this is beautiful." She said in awe.
She took it off to look at it closer.
"These aren't real diamonds are they?" She asked.
Paul nodded.
"Paul this must've cost a fortune." She shook her head.
"Shhh." He told her and kissed her. "It's a flower crown, except this one doesn't fade away. You can wear it whenever you want." He smiled.
"I need to know where this money came from though." She told him.
"Not now." He begged.
"Paul..." She moaned.
"You don't need to know." He said.
"Is this why you've been going out every Friday? What are you doing?"
"It's nothing."
"Paul!"
"Fine! I-I just meet up with this guy...and..."
"What?"
"And..."
"What?!"
"And he pays me! Alright?"
"Pays you? For what?" She asked. "Oh my God..."
"Linda, I'm sorry! I need to make money to take care of us! I'm saving up to pay for this house. I get enough money! I just wanted to help you!" Paul pleaded.
"How could you?" Linda asked, disgusted.
"Linda!" He whimpered.
"I can't believe you! It's you that's the fucking slut!" She screamed and slammed the door as she left.
