Disclaimer: everyone writes about going through heat differently, and in this book, I have chosen it to be lethal and very dangerous to your well being.
----I walked into the elevator, being careful to make sure my mac and cheese was secured in its plastic bowl. It was my first meal of the day, regardless of the fact that it was 3 in the afternoon. It had been 2 days since I had last seen Kal and I truthfully wasn't hating it.
Another pack member was in the elevator, a teenage girl maybe. She was out to speak to the Alpha I presumed because she was going to the same floor as I was.
I took the little elevator time I had to look around for the first time, noticing how luxurious it was compared to its size. There, on one of the walls hung a large calendar with the current month viewable. The calendar was marked with important days in wolf history, like invention days, wolf holidays and even full moons were marked.
"What is today's date?" I asked the teenage girl curious to see how long I've been here.
"The 29th," she said timidly, barely making eye contact with me.
"Are you sure?" She had to have been wrong, it couldn't possibly be the 29th.
"Its the 29th for sure," she said quietly. When the elevator made a sound to alarm us that we had arrived, she couldn't have rushed out of the elevator any quicker. Meanwhile, I was still dumbfounded and shocked.
It's was the 29th.
It was the night of a full moon.
How the hell did time move so fast? Why didn't anyone tell me? Oh, god. This wasn't good.
Heat.
Most female wolves didn't go through heat because most times the couple would be marked and mated within days of meeting. A heat could only strike a she-wolf if it was a full moon and the mates weren't mated yet, but knew of each other. And if heats ever happened to people, the strong scent the women gave off would attract their mate (and other unmated male wolves) tremendously so the the mates would end up marking and mating each other before the night of the heat had even really began. It was completely unheard of for a pairing to fight the heat...
I felt my body shiver. I had heard stories about women in heats. They were never pleasant. Always described as a deep burning and painful number of hours before it's even close to being over.
Would Kal help me through it? Who am I kidding, would he do anything for me? A miracle was what I needed. I stood in the hallway by the elevator for at least 5 minutes thinking everything over.
I couldn't do this by myself. The pain would be too much. I didn't even know whether my door had a lock on it, as if that could possibly protect me from the unmated wolves in this pack.
My feet seemed as though they were moving on their own as they took me to Kal's office.
I knocked on the door twice before just opening it, and walking in.
A low growl escaped Kal's throat immediately. "Who is-" he stopped himself mid sentence, seeing as it was me. He couldn't hide how his eyes darkened as he looked me over.
"Are we done here?" He said to the young teenage girl from the elevator, who was sitting across from him, practically shaking in fear.
"Y-yes," she stammered and slipped past me and into the hallway.
