Hiding Avery

Chapter thirty

Kristen's POV: I'm kind of scared to leave my room. Alli saw Avery's stuff so I know I will be in trouble. "Are you going out of your room?" Avery asked me sitting up beside my bed. I stare at the door and shake my head no. "You have to get this over with. You can't be scared of them." I turn my head towards her and finally speak. "I'm not scared..." She raises an eyebrow at me. "Ok maybe a little scared. But mostly of Alli." She stands up and sits next to me on my queen sized bed. "Why exactly? She isn't mean." I glare at her and turn my head. "Yea she is. You know that time on my birthday? The whole phone thing?" She nods and I continue, "well she has done worse. She yelled at both me and Charles and left the house, it was when I first got here too. She also yelled at me and told me she would put me in foster care if I didn't go on tour..." She sighs. "Well she didn't put you in the foster care did she?" I shake my head and lay down on my pillow. "Besides, might as well get over it now then be stuck in here all day." "Well then you would leave and I would have my phone taken away." Moshe shrugs and we hear a knock at my door. Avery goes under the bed and Alli comes in. "Avery you can come out." Alli says sitting on my bed. Avery comes out and sits in my bed also. "Avery can stay but if Charles sees her you will be in trouble. He doesn't know anything so let's keep it like that." I nod and smile at Avery. "I'm going over to my moms house so you are alone with you dad and your siblings. Be careful and behave, love you." She kisses my forehead and leaves my room. "That was easier than I thought." We hear Charles and Alli talking and then hear another knock at my door. "Take the stuff under the bed with you." I whisper to Avery as she crawls under the bed. "Hey, Alli made breakfast before she left. You can come get some whenever. I have to edit so the babies are staying in here." I nod and he let's Chaz and Anna in my room. He closes the door and I get a text from Avery.

'Can I come out?'

'No the twins are in my room. They will tell on me. Just keep texting me.'

'Kk'

"Ok so what do you wanna do?" I asked the twins as the walked over to my bed. I help them up on my bed and the sat facing me. "Dress up?" Anna asks with puppy dog eyes. Chaz pouts and shakes his head. "CARS!" He yells giggling. "Ok how about we let my friend Avery come over!"

'Nice one.'

'Thanks. Let's hope they agree.'

"NO!!" I sigh and type, 'sorry, you have to stay under there.' To Avery and I play with the twins. I hear some shuffling around and a bang. "Ouch!" I look over at the bed and so do the twins. "Who's dat?" Anna asks pointing to my bed. "Just, uh, me hurting my foot, ouch!" Anna glares at me and kept on playing. That was a close one. We continue to play until Charles comes in and gets the twins. "Thanks for watching them." "Welcome." I say standing up off of the floor. "Wanna eat?" I shake my head, "maybe later." He nods and closes my door. "You can come out Avery." She comes out and stands up with a sweaty face. "It's got under there." She says laughing. We play on our phones for a little bit and watch tv. "Wanna eat? My dad is on a golf cart ride." She nods and we leave my room. "Where are the twins?" She asks looking around the corner. "With him." She nods and we get some left over eggs and I toast a piece of bread. We here the the garage door opening up and Charles comes into the house. I quickly open up a cabinet and have Avery go inside. "Stay in here and here are some cookies, shhh!" I close the door and stand at the counter waiting for Charles go come in. "Look who's finally up." I smile at him and he sits at the table to edit. "Hey where are the twins?" He stands up wide eyes and runs out to the garage. I open up the cabinet door. "It's your lucky day." I said grabbing Avery's hand and we run to my room. "That was close." I say as I hear the babies laughing at Charles. Chaz opens up my door and runs inside. I jump in front of Avery and whisper, "get in the closet." She nods and I move over the the closet blocking Chaz's view. "Who's dat?" He asks pointing at Avery. "Who's who? Who's me? I'm Kristen your adopted sister." "No behind you." I turn around and there is a mirror in my way. "It's still me." He sighs and walks over to my closet. "In here." He points to my closet door and tries opening it. Avery must be holding it on the other side because it normally opens easily. "DADDY!!!" Chaz screams and keeps tugging on the door. "WHAT??" "COME HERE!" I sit on my bed waiting for the worst when Charles comes in. "What Chaz?" "Open the closet door!" "Why? It's Kristen's clothes in here." "No there is something she is hiding someone." Charles sighs and goes to the closet door and tugs on it. "Kristen open it." He says crossing his arms. "Fine." I walk over to the door and whisper, "it's me." I pull on the door and it opens revealing nobody. "Wait, what were you hiding?" I look at him. "Nothing..." I look to my left of the closet and see bags moving. Chaz points at it and I sigh. Charles picks up the bags and reveals Avery. I look up at him as he looks down at me. "Sorry...?" He shakes his head and leaves the room. "I'm calling Avery's mom." I hug Avery and help her pack up her things. She didn't bring a lot but she still brought a sleeping bag and her phone. "I had fun hiding from your dad. Good luck." "Thanks." I hugged her and her mom soon got here.

"Thanks for calling me Charles. I didn't know where she was." Avery's mom said as Avery got in the car. Avery rolled down her window and waves bye to me. As they left I could here Avery's mom scolding her and then saw Alli's car pull up. Alli walked over to me and bends down to my level, which isn't far from her level. "You will get in trouble like I said and I will be playing along with your father, got it." I nod and we walk into the house. We all sit at the table as usual and Charles starts to speak but get cuts off by Alli, "why would you have Avery over here? You know you shouldn't of had your friends over." I look down and Charles speaks but to Alli. "Can I speak for once? She is also my daughter. You always lecture her and I'm the one she runs too. Maybe we should change that up." Alli crosses her arms and Charles makes me look up at him since he raised his voice at Alli. He never does that. "Ok you know the rules. Go to your room I will be there in a minute." I nod and walk to my room. I hear them yelling back and forth as I shut my door. Things have been getting out of hand. Charles comes into my room with a box in his hand. "Electronics in the box, now." He says sternly and I grab all of my electronics. "Don't lie to me but did Alli know she was over?" I go over what Alli said and how much the have been fighting. What if I make them fight more? I decide to lie and I shake my head. Charles nods and leaves my room. I lay on my bed and think about what might happen to them.
