It was the night before school, the kids had been sent to bed. Regina gets up, gets her flashlight and blinks it four times through her window. Killian sees it, and starts to get up, he signals her back a 2 blink pattern, meaning he's coming.

Killian creeps down the stairs, passing his sleeping parents, and down the stairs, Regina does the same in her house, and they get outside, and up to the treehouse. "What's wrong?" Killian asks as he lights a little electric lantern, "They'll be mean to me, like that boy who came here," Regina said. Killian and Regina had both lost their front teeth during the last week of summer, have adorable little gaps. "No they won't, I'm there," Killian said.

For a 8 year old boy, Killian was certainly tougher than he looked, he called Regina his girlfriend already, which all their parents thought was too adorable. Even Henry, Mr. Protective, loved how sweet Killian was to Regina.

Ava got up, at 7 am, and pushed Killian's door open, "Killian, time to get ready," she said then noticed, it was an empty bed, "Brennan!" She yelled and he came out of getting ready, "Your son," Ava sighed, "Let's think," he smirked and they headed out back. Cora and Henry were already running out of their house looking for Regina too. They all headed to the treehouse, their little light was on inside, "Killian!!" Brennan yelled up, and woke him.

"Uh oh," Killian looked down, seeing their parents all there, Regina got up and they both climbed down, "What are you doing? What did we say about sneaking out??" Ava scolded, "Regina was scared," Killian said, "About what sweetie?" Cora kneeled down, "School, they won't like me," Regina said, all the parents looked at each other, "Well you have a friend already, Killian will be there," Henry said.

"I'm pretty sure he's already possessive over you little lass, in a good way," Brennan said smiling. "Come on, let's get ready, and Ava and I are going to take you two," Cora said. They headed home to get ready, Killian had little jeans on, and his father put him in a button up plaid shirt, "There, dashing as ever, like your father," He said smiling. He even put a little gel in Killian's hair to keep it suave. "The little hole in his mouth makes it even cuter," Ava said, "I know," Brennan chuckled.

Regina was in a little jean jumper, and shirt underneath, "There you are," Henry said, Cora had braided her hair into little pigtails too. They headed out, "Come on, let's go," Ava said, Regina hugged Henry goodbye, "You watch out for Regina, lad," Brennan said hugging his son, "I will Papa," Killian said. The moms kissed their husbands and headed off with the kids. Killian and Regina walked hand in hand.

They arrived at school, a bit early, given Cora had to head to her classroom, "Mommy," Regina said nervously, "Ava will take you and Killian, I'll see you later, sweetie," Cora kissed her head. Ava took Killian and Regina's hands and led them upstairs to their classroom. "Ah hello, I'm Miss French," their teacher greeted them, "Hi, this is Regina Mills, and my son Killian Jones," Ava said.

"Ok you, Regina's Mom will be taking my son after school," Ava confirmed with their teacher, who nodded with a sweet smile. "Well you two are lucky, you have a friend already," Miss French said. Ava hugged Killian, looked at Regina, and gave her a wink, "You'll be great," she said, Regina nodded and the two 2nd graders headed inside.

Lunch time, 2nd graders in the cafeteria

Regina and Killian of course were side by side at their table. Two of the boys, the nicer ones, from the neighborhood were next to them. Killian and Regina opened their lunch boxes, Killian's mom packed him of course an apple, a little peanut butter sandwich, some milk and yogurt. Regina's mom packed her a cheese sandwich, also an apple, and some juice and crackers. Regina and Killian both ate their apples at the same time, which was rather difficult they found, with their missing front teeth.

They headed to recess after lunch, Killian had a ball, that he took from the stash that was outside for the kids. He started playing with it, with Regina and the other two boys. The boy from the few days before, who wanted Regina out of the treehouse came up to Killian, with two of his friends. They were the same size of course.

"So she can play ball too?" He mocked, Killian started to grit and clench his little jaw, staring at the boy, Regina got nervous and didn't move, Killian stood in front of her and puffed up his small chest. "She wears a dress, but she plays with all the boys, maybe she wants to be one," he mocked, Killian stared at him, lifting one of his eyebrows, clearly getting agitated. "Yeah well, she's my girlfriend, so she can do what she wants, go away," Killian snapped. "Maybe you're a girl too, because you like to play with them," the boy teased, Killian smirked, "Actually I'm her Prince, and she's my princess," Killian hissed at him, "So you kiss her too?" the boy mocked him more, Killian turned to Regina, and just to prove his point, he kissed Regina's cheek, which she smiled at and started to giggle. Killian smiled at the other boy, and raised his eyebrows.

"Eww, what is wrong with you two?" the boy asking obnoxiously, "I think that you're the one who has something wrong," Killian said, he was just getting more and more angry, "Get away from me," Killian said, his father's voice was coming out, and his anger, "Go ahead and move me," the boy said, Killian stared at him, and pushed him as hard as he could, making the boy fall flat on the ground.

"Stop!" the teachers ran up to them, Killian stared at him as the other boy was helped up, and brushed off, Killian just stared at him, like he was looking through him. Of course a note went home about all of this.

Back at home after school

"Really? First day of school and I get a note?" Brennan asked, in a rather scolding tone, "He pushed a boy, the one that was mean to me," Regina said, Brennan looked at Regina, and then back to Killian, "Is that the way of it?" Brennan asked him, "Yes Sir," Killian said, Brennan nodded and looked at Henry with a smile, "I see," Brennan said.

At Regina's, "He kissed my cheek," Regina said, "He what?" Henry asked, "Henry now's not the time," Cora smiled.

At Killian's, "You kissed her cheek? That's my boy," Brennan said proudly, "Brennan!" Ava said, scolding but also laughing, "What? He saved her, I think it's love," Brennan said.
