"I'll see you after class," Regina said, and Killian kissed her sweetly, while the teacher wasn't looking, and he headed off to his class. He walked down the hallway, and he bumped into Graham, "uh," Graham said, Killian looked around, "Hey I just hope we can stop being so hostile towards each other," Graham said. "I'm not hostile, I just choose not to be friends with someone who put their hands on my girlfriend," Killian said. "It was a misunderstanding, she was upset," Graham said, "So that gives you reason to kiss her?" Killian asked, "I don't know, I wasn't thinking," Graham said, "If you touch her again, I'll rip your face off," Killian warned and walked away.

After school, both Killian and Regina had sports, Killian was playing soccer, he moved around the field smoothly, and got slide tackled, slamming him from the side, and he hit his head, and he was out cold. Suddenly, Regina's body froze on the track, she hadn't even seen the impact, and she turned and saw Killian lying on the ground. Her heart sank, time froze, and nothing around her made any sound, she only heard her own heart beating, pounding against her chest, "Killian," she said in a whisper.

Killian was taken to the hospital, Regina was there, her parents showed up, Cora first, she hugged her daughter, "Mom," She cried onto her mother, who held her tight to her, "ok, ok, he will be ok," Cora said. Brennan and Ava came rushing in, "Killian Jones, I'm his mother," Ava said, anxiously and almost commanding the nurse. "You'll have to just wait for the doctor," the nurse said, "I want to see my son!! Now!!" Ava snapped, Brennan put his arm gently on her shoulder. "Yes ma'am," the nurse said. They led Ava and Brennan to the back, and Killian was unconscious, "Killian," Ava said by his side, touching his head, Brennan stared at his son, misery in his eyes.

In the waiting room, "Daddy," Regina said, tears full in her eyes,"It's all going to be ok," Henry said. "he's a survivor, remember?" Cora asked Regina, and she nodded, and hugged her parents. "I love him," Regina said, "I know," Cora said. They held their daughter between them, Henry gently cradling Regina's head.

They allowed Cora and Henry, and Regina to go in and see Killian. Ava was not moving from her son's side. "Killian," Regina sighed, and sat on his other side. "I'm here sweetie," Ava said, with her husband not removing his hand from her shoulder. They stayed hours, Henry took Brennan for coffee. He was the most silent he ever had been, thinking about his son, and seeing his son just sound asleep was painful for him to look at.

Killian looked like he was a sleeping prince, "My sweet prince," Ava sighed touching his hair, "I still that little boy, running to me," Ava said, "Now he's running to you," Ava said to Regina, with a sweet smile. Cora looked over him with the other two, "He will be ok," Cora said, confidently,

The evening got late, and still Killian hadn't moved, "I'm sorry, but we have to send visitors home," the nurse said, "I am not leaving, he's my son, you'll have to move me," Ava said, in a most threatening voice, "You really don't want to try and make me leave, I will destroy you," Ava said, the nurse was afraid of that, "Fine you may stay Mrs. Jones," the nurse said. "Come on Regina," Cora said, "I will call you if anything," Ava said, "No matter what time, please?" Regina pleaded, "of course, sweetheart, go," Ava said. Regina held Killian's hand, feeling up his arm, and she kissed his head.

Suddenly, Killian's eyes shot open, "Regina," he said seeing her over him, Regina laughed and cried at the same time, holding his hand. Ava smiled, and leaned over her son, "Killian," She said, "Mum," he said, "You gave us a scare lad," Brennan said, "Hi Papa," He said. Henry and Cora smiled at him too, the nurse rushed out to the get the doctor. "Well aren't you the savior," Ava said, squeezing her son's hand, and touching his head, "Killian," Regina smiled at him, "How many times do I have to tell you? I'm a survivor," he smirked.

Killian was sent home from the hospital, and of course Ava was doting on him like crazy, "he's a young man Ava, you don't need to coddle him," Brennan said, Ava glared at her husband, a sign to 'back off, he's my baby' look. "ok ok, dote away," Brennan smiled.

"Son, I'm off to work, take it easy as your mother says," Brennan said. "I will, I still say I'm fine, my head it pretty tough," Killian said, "That's because it's empty," Regina sassed coming in, "Very funny," Killian said, "Aren't you off to school love?" Brennan asked, "Yes, I was just coming to take Killian's homework in to pass to his teachers," Regina said. "Ok, see you two later, Cora said something about Tacos tonight," Brennan said, "I don't think my mom means food, actually," Regina said, "Hmm, Ava!!" Brennan went off to talk to her before leaving.

Regina sat down, Killian had a bandaid on his head still where the impact was, "That bloody goal crossbar knocked the handsome out of me," Killian said, "Nothing is that powerful," Regina smiled, Killian handed her his work, "I'll miss you," Killian said, "I'll miss you," Regina said. She kissed him quickly, "Bye Regina, don't be late dear," Ava said. "Come here after school with Killian's work, I'm making pie today, come after school for some hot chocolate," Ava said, "Ok, thanks, bye," Regina said heading out.

"You're making pie?" Killian asked, "Still that little boy," Ava smiled, "Mum," Killian rolled his eyes a bit, he touched his face, "You know I may be almost time to shave, look," Killian said, Ava looked closely, and saw maybe a single hair on his chin, "Perhaps," Ava smiled, "Come on, you can can still help me," Ava said.

Killian was still close to his mother, having Regina in his life definitely made him appreciate his mom still, plus the way Brennan had taught his son to care for his mother was very special. Ava had made pie with Killian ever since he was a little boy.

Flashback, Killian 6 years old.

Ava stands over Killian, as the small boy cracks the egg into the bowl, "No shell, mummy," Killian said, "Good job, here," Ava handed him the whisk and he started mixing it. His favorite part was the dough, he loved rolling it out all over the counter. He was working so hard he stuck his little tongue out to the corner of his mouth, as he worked, he brushed his face getting flour on it and his hair and kept focused rolling out the hard dough. "Good job sweetie," Ava said. She peeled apples and sifted sugar over them in a bowl, and mixed them up. "You missed a spot," Ava said playfully putting flour on her son's nose. They got them in the oven, and Killian patiently watched the pastry puff up inside it, until the bell rang that it was done. "Mummy!" he said excitedly when they were finished, "Oh I think someone is home too," Ava said, "Papa!!" Killian ran, he loved his mother, but he was indeed his father's little man. Brennan came in, Killian ran to him covered in flour, "Woah, look at this," Brennan smiled picking up his son. "We made pie," He said, "I smell that lad," Brennan said.

"Brennan not until after dinner," Ava said as Brennan took one holding Killian in his arms, "Oh love, the lad worked hard all day, I can tell by his white powdered look, just one bite, no harm," Brennan said smirked and he and Killian took a bite of it together, "Mmm," Killian said. Ava shook her head smiling at her guys.

Present Day

Killian was now the one peeling and slicing apples, he still loved the roll out the dough, and was in the process, "Mum," he said, and Ava looked at him. He was now her height, but she still saw that little boy in his eyes. "I wanted to give Regina something," Killian said, "Like what?" Ava asked, "like, you know how Papa gave you a promise ring?" Killian asked, "yes, it was a claddagh ring actually, it's an Irish tradition," Ava said. "I want to get her one," Killian said, "I can help with that," Ava said. "Thanks Mum, I can work to make some of the money," Killian said. "Perfect," Ava said.
