That weekend Brennan and Killian headed to the docks early, Brennan loved doing this with his son, it was always a dream of his. He rented a nice boat, and Henry and Regina were on their way. "Good job lad," Brennan said, helping Killian tie up the main mast.

"Now you remember port?" Brennan asked, "left, and starboard right," Killian said. "Good man," Brennan said proudly. "Papa, did they say second star to the right in Peter Pan because starboard means right?" Killian asked. Brennan smirked at his son, "perhaps they did," he said.

"Hey!" Henry said, Killian and Brennan greeted them on the gang plank, "ah Milady," Brennan said offering his hand to Regina, Killian of course copied his father and got Regina's other hand. Henry smiled and boarded as well.

"You may call me Captain Jones," Killian boasted proudly, "well not yet lad, perhaps someday you'll be Captain Jones, but for now you're my first mate," Brennan winked.

They started out on the water. Killian and Regina looked over the side as it moved over the waves. They laughed and smiled, it was a beautiful day.

"See that?" Killian said giving the telescope to Regina to look through, "is that a dolphin?" Regina asked, "Papa look! Is that a Dolphin?!" Killian asked, "I believe so," Brennan said. "Wow!" Regina said smiling, "they're like mermaids," Regina said. "You don't like fish," Killian said. "I know, but mermaids are different," Regina said. "They're evil, according to stories of sailors," Killian said. "Ariel isn't," Regina rolled her eyes at him.

After a while Brennan noticed some waves getting a bit bigger, the water was getting rocky, no storm in sight but the boat was certainly moving. "Hold on you two, get your life jackets," Brennan said.

The kids headed across the boat to get them, but Regina slipped and fell under the railing into the water. "Regina!!" Killian didn't even delay and jumped in the water, "Regina! Killian!" Henry ran, "here quickly!" Brennan tied a rope around himself, trying to steady the boat and he jumped in, Killian had Regina in his arms, gripping her as tight as he could, Brennan got to them, "hold onto me Killian!" he said, Killian held his dad, but didn't let go of Regina's hand.

Henry grabbed Killian by the collar and pulled him up then lifted Brennan who held Regina. The slip caused her to hit her head, she wasn't awake. "Regina!" Henry shook her a bit, "Regina!!!" Killian yelled as his father held him touching Regina's head. A moment, and Regina coughed, Henry held her up to sitting, and Killian hugged her, "Regina," he said.

Brennan held his son, "I'm ok," Regina said, "you are a tough lass," Brennan said smiling. "You terrified me," Henry kissed her head, "your shoelace, came off my wrist," Regina said to Killian, Killian stared at her, "I'll give you another," he sighed, and hugged her. Henry smiled at Brennan.

"Are you ok?" Killian asked, "I'm a survivor," Regina smirked. "That you are lass, and you young man, jumping in like that, quite the dashing rescue," Brennan said.

"First aid, here," Brennan handed to Henry, Killian sat holding Regina's hand, not moving, Henry cleaned the cut, "should we head back?" Brennan asked, "No Daddy please?" Regina pleaded, "oh ok as long as you're alright," Henry said, "I'm ok," Regina said, "I won't take my eyes off her for a second," Killian said, their fathers smiled again, "I believe you've earned to be called Captain," Brennan smirked, "Captain Killian Jones," Regina smiled.

Killian and Regina 12 years old.

"Your head hurts again?" Cora asked Regina, "I'm ok," Regina said, "Regina we should take you to the doctor," Henry said. "Why? They'll just stick me with something," Regina said, Henry smiled, "No, you aren't due for any shots, don't worry," Henry said. Regina had been having some headaches, after school mostly, when she was doing homework.

"Hey," Killian said, "What's wrong?" He asked, "Nothing I'm fine," Regina said, "Umm I know you better than anyone, I know when something is bothering you, tell me," Killian said. "Oh and here," He said taking out a new shoelace, since the other fell off in the water months before when she fell off the boat. "This one is leather, it won't fall off," Killian said, tying it securely around her wrist, and once again using his teeth to tighten it into a double knot.

"So, tell me," Killian said, "I have to go to the doctor, because of my head hurting after school," Regina said. "Well it's ok, you'll be ok," Killian said. "Hey you two," Ava said, "Come on, dinner, Regina, your parents are coming over, so just go wash up," Ava said. "Mum, can I go with Regina to the doctor?" Killian asked, Ava smiled at her son, who was growing to be quite handsome like his father, "Well, I think that would be ok," Ava smiled.

Cora and Henry came over, "Oh you didn't have to bring pie," Ava said, "Well, I just made it, it's gooseberry," Cora said, "Like from a goose?" Brennan asked, "I don't know what it means either," Henry said laughing. "Come on Killian!" Ava called him.

"Cora, Killian asked if she can escort you and Regina to the doctor," Ava said, "Oh, that's sweet, of course, I'll just bring him home, her appointment is right after school," Cora said.

The next day after school they went to the doctor. They discovered Regina's headaches were being caused by needing some reading glasses. They fitted her for them, "I'm a dork," Regina sighed, "No you're not," Killian said, "I think you look bright," Cora said, "I like them," Killian said.

Her glasses were black, had rounded shape at the bottom, they fit her face quite nicely actually. She only had to wear them when she read in school, she didn't have to use them to look far away at all.

"Papa," Killian said, "Yes, son," Brennan said, "Do you need these?" Killian asked, holding up an old pair of glasses, "No, I have some new ones, but you don't need reading glasses," Brennan said, "I know, but can I have them anyway?" Killian asked, "Umm sure," Brennan smiled at him.

In Killian's room, he popped out the lenses so only the frames were left, they were black, and similar to Regina's new reading glasses. He tucked them in his backpack.

At school, Killian and Regina were in class, they were next to each other. "Regina, could you read paragraph 2 out loud?" The teacher asked, Regina sighed, and took out her new reading glasses, and put them on, "Four eyes," one boy said, "Hush," the teacher said, Killian glared at him, and he took out the spare old pair that he took from his father. He put them on, "Psst," he said, and Regina looked at him, she smiled brightly at him, as he raised his eyebrows, Regina smiled and read the paragraph, now able to read better because of the glasses.

After school, "I can't believe you did that," Regina said, "What?" Killian asked, "Who's are they?" Regina asked, "They were my Papa's old pair, just popped out the glass," Killian said. Regina smiled at him, and then, she kissed his lips, "Thank you, Killian," she smiled, he smirked at her, "I like that thank you," He smiled.
