"Matthew we're gonna be late!" I shouted.

It's been a few days since we were invited to Kat's party and Quinn almost blew off debate to search her closet for something to wear.

For someone who almost disintegrated our chances of even going to this party, she seemed pretty excited to go.

Almost.

Matthew actually did however, I guess he's seriously determined to impress her.

"Give me another few minutes okay?" He shouted from the kitchen.

He emerged back one minute later with a bottle of Smirnoff.

"Uhhh.., what's with the alcohol buddy?" I asked after a second.

"I'm bringing alcohol to the party!" Matthew stated proudly.

Quinn rolled her eyes.

"Don't you thing they have their own alcohol? It's not BYOB, they're just gonna think you're trying too hard," Quinn stated, annoyed.

"Oh.., I never thought of it that way," Matthew replied as his face fell.

"Aw buddy you know she's just a little on edge because it's her first party right? Quinn's never been to one of these and neither have you, maybe it was bring your own booze, and even if it's not, they'll appreciate the thought," I replied, giving Matthew an encouraging smile, earning a beaming grin back from Matthew.

If this party wasn't the talk of the school, Quinn probably wouldn't have overheard it in the girls bathroom overhearing their usual gossip and never would have been able to obtain the address of the party in the first place and Kat would have thought we blew her off.

As we drove I could hear Matthew and Quinn's chatter increase.

Are we there yet?

How many people will be there?

Was there some sort of dress code or quota?

I could feel myself starting to slightly stress out. As I thought more about it. I could feel my shoulders tense as my hands gripped the steering wheel.

Kat was once my best friend. So why can't I just relax? I asked myself.

Good question.

I pulled my car up in front of the designated address- this really large modern looking house, and needless to say when we walked in the party was in full swing.

If it weren't for Matthew's great adventures in the wonderful world of colourless and flammable liquids- otherwise known as alcohol we probably would have arrived before the party got this into it.

We all entered- in all our awe stricken faced glory.

There were teenagers everywhere. Some, I recognized from class and others I hadn't even seen before today.

There was music blasting intensely, but nobody seemed to mind the music but dancing to it wildly.

Quinn looked around excitedly, as if she had put this whole thing together herself and was absorbing the excitement up in full.

Hey, at least one of us seems excited to be here.

This entire atmosphere was kinda overwhelming actually. One shoed girls danced against guys I both recognized and have never seen before in my life present dancing to the intense music as well.

I felt two arms rest on my shoulders.

"Hey buddy," a voice whispered in my ear, sending a wave of goosebumps down my arms and the hairs on my neck stand on end, eliciting a short shiver as well.

I turned around to see Kat's relaxed but knowing smiling face looking back at me.

I looked over at Matthew, but Quinn was nowhere to be seen.

The clear worry and discomfort on Matthew's face was as evident as the party lights that danced around the room in various colours, the slightest tinge of pink visible despite his dark skin.

Kat clearly took note of this and wrapped her arms around us, one arm on me and one arm around Matthew.

"Yeah I could tell that everything here seemed a little bit too strong for you guys and this isn't your scene, how about you and your buddy make your way to my room upstairs. Second room to your left. You know the one. Some friends will be joining us up there in a bit," Kat mumbled into my ear.

As she walked off I told Matthew, who's face brightened up immediately.

"What are we standing around here for? Let's go!" He shouted, almost as loud as the girl behind us who I I remembered as the head leader from our school spirit team last year as she threw up in an ice skate.

Kat

It was as I walked away from Nate when I realized how completely suggestive I came across. Oh well I thought to myself, Nate's an innocent mind- he probably hasn't jumped to any conclusions.

As for his friend however, I had no idea where is brain could be going.

I guess we'll just have to find out then huh?

I grabbed some fireball whiskey and made my way over to my friends with Jade taking up the conversation with tattoo talk, roiling up her sleeve and pointing to various parts of her body, a couple already having been inked.

"Hey guys," I greeted.

Danika waved before letting out a light cough and relit the joint that was being passed around.

Personally I don't smoke, not at parties either, but that didn't stop them from offering me one.

"Come on guys you know I don't do that shit, when you're high you miss all the exciting shit and you just fall asleep wherever you're sitting."

"So I got a couple party virgins in my room and I'm currently trying to keep them away from anything too wild. You guys mind being seventh graders  and grabbing some random partygoers for a bit and playing truth or dare until their curfew or something?" I asked.

Jade stepped forward.

"You know I'm always game babe," her flirty smile wrapped around her words.

I honestly love them.
