Nate
"Hey guys! I said, sitting with Felix and Markus, as Markus sketched away in his sketchbook.
Classes didn't technically start until 8:20 but everyone pretty much got here like half an hour before that to just hang out.
My bus dropped everyone off early so I was just kind of killing time with Markus and Felix before I had to get to class.
Markus was definitely the artsy one amongst our group. He could draw batman's bat mobile down the the hubcaps in perfect detail with a dollar store pencil and some regular sheet paper.
"What you drawing?" I asked, leaning over his left shoulder.
"don't worry about it," replied, pulling his book towards himself and closing it slightly.
Felix veered to the left to look over his hunched over shoulders- which wouldn't be hard for him considering that Felix had at least seven inches on the guy.
"It's that girl that started the food fight last week," Felix said.
"Yeah I'm familiar with her," I replied.
"So let's see how well did you capture her 'essence of rebellion' in your drawing," I asked jokingly.
Markus looked reluctant but Felix gave him a look of encouragement, before giving a sigh of giving in and pulled the black book away from his chest.
I've said it before, Markus is a talented artist- like really good. But I'd never seen at thing like this before, since he didn't do people faces.
I looked at the detailing of the face, how that hint of mischievousness was almost visible in her eyes, her lips turned up in a slight knowing smile with a bit of teeth showing, lightly biting her bent finger.
"Is it good?" He asked.
"It's... wow," I remarked, completely in wonder at what I was looking at.
"Yeah you even nailed the teeth, nice work," a voice from behind us congratulated.
We all jumped for a second before turning around, half expecting to see Kat, but Quinn stood there instead.
"Hey guys," she sit, plopping herself down, sitting casually in between Markus and I.
"Quinn! We missed y- wait? Where's your boyfriend? Did you guys break up?" Felix and I asked hopefully.
I know, totally wrong of me, but you can't totally blame me for wanting my friend back you know?
"Nah, he's just running the track, I got kind of bored sitting and talking about lip gloss amongst his fans,- I mean, I don't look like someone who has the conversational ability of a piece of cardboard," Quinn replied.
"Could've fooled me," Markus muttered.
I had a chance now to inspect how Quinn was dressed.
Her hair which was normally pulled back was let out, her mono-lidded eyes looked smaller with the ring of black eyeliner around them.
