The Diru didn't even make a sound as the stalagtite pierced its body. It just fell to the floor with a trail of purplish fluid floating out.

I was in so much shock I didn't even notice that Daymon was swimming above me and that I was free of my chains.

"Come on Malerie, we need to go", Daymon has his hand outstretched to me.

I take it but can't look away from the bleeding Diru on the ground. "Oh Mal, don't look at it", Daymon puts his hand on my cheek and turns my head to look at him instead. Daymon's voice becomes soft and caring. I notice his square jaw line, his chocolate brown hair, like mine. His hair sticks up in the front, I think it compliments his face. I didn't really think Daymon was handsom until now.

His hand lingers on my cheek, then slowly removes it. Daymon takes my hand in his again and pulls me away from the grusome scene back where we were.

Both of us wind our way through the maze of stallagmites and stallagtites trying to reach the exit of the cave. I notice small, dark, fish that swim by us here and there. A black fish with gray specks on it's body swam by me and skimmed my wrist. I cringed in pain while letting go of Daymon's hand. Looking down at my wrists I see how tightly those chains were on me, both wrists are covered all the way around with welts and in some parts cut.

Daymon gently picks up both of my wrists in his hands turning them over with his rough yet soft hands. "We'll need to get something on this soon", he quietly says without looking at me. Daymon lets one of my hands fall and gently grabs my other to pull me along as before.

Great. That'll sting in the morning. I chuckle quietly.

The cave gradually gets lighter as we move closer to the opening. As we exit the cave Daymon sighs in relief, "I'm surprised that we weren't follow out".

"I for one am done with Diru for a while", I shudder thinking about all the events that have happened to me these past hours.
