I hate seeing my mom like this.

When she is all angry and riled up. It just sucks knowing that I have a friend finally and now she is going to keep her from me. Dinah was so nice and sweet and there was nothing I wanted more than to talk with her. She lit up ,y life like something I couldnt imagine. Words couldnt explain how much her value to me had rocketed.

But here I was. In the living room. On the couch. My mom sitting across from me with rock hard eyes.

"Want to apologize?" She asked.

"Nope."

"You need to."

"Because I made a friend, like you wanted me to, and now your kicking her out?"

My mom sighed and rubbed my hand. "Normani this girl is obviously bi. Or lesbian. And you know how we feel about people like that. She is a bad infulence on you. She has a pack of cigars."

I roll my eyes. "Maybe if you had gotten to know her a bit better you wouldve known. Its her metaphor. You put the killing thing between your teeth but dont give it the power to do its killing. Dinah hasnt even lit one."

"And what if shes lying?"

"Shes not lying."

"Normani." My mom says sternly. "I dont like Dinah and I think you should stay away from her."

"But shes my friend-"

"Shes bi and obviously thinks of you as more. Who knows how long it will be til your a lesbo in a gang? Probably her gang...." My moms voice was rising with anger.

I sigh. "You dont know how much she means to me."

"This is exactly why you need better friends. You deserve better. I dont want your friends changing who you are Normani. You already are talking like you love her-"

"Mom!" I shout. "I- I- trea-sssssuuurrrreee- o- o- ourrrrr ffffff- rennnnn- d- d- sssssshiiiippp." I silently curse at my emotions. My speech lacking because of my anger and saddness.

My mom looks worried. "Do you need-"

"Nnnnnnnnooo. Im f- f- fiiiiiiinnne." I stutter.

She nods. "I know your angry and sad but this is for the best. And right now I think you need a goodnights sleep."

I try to protest but she helps me to bed and before long Im asleep.
