I come home from school with a smile. Yet my brain cant really process why. I see my mom and she ussures me to a seat. She fills a glass and I down the contents. Fire raging through my throat in pain but relief.
My head began clearing and the events of school finally came back. Dinah. Camila. Ally. Lauren. All at school together.
"How was school?" My mom asked.
I made the split descion not to say Dinah was going there. "I found out Lauren goes to school there." I said brightly.
"Great."
"In fact she invited me to a sleepover tonight. Can I go?" I asked knowing it was Friday and shed say yes. I was not going to say however that Dinah would be there too.
"Of corse sweatheart. But you have to bring the Yin Fe-"
I winced.
She gave me a sad smile. "I dont want another... incident." She said chosing her words carefully.
I press my lips together in a thin line and nod. "Lauren will be here in a few minutes to get me."
My mom nodded. "Go grab your stuff."
I ran up stairs and put on a white crop top and long black skinny jeans. Then pack a bag with stuff and a bottle of Yin Fe. I make a face when I pick up the bottle. Hating everything that had happened to me.
A knock at the door forces me to push it aside and run down stairs. Lauren smiles. Her car is outside waiting. With Dinah inside.
"Bye mom, bye dad, luv ya!" I quickly shout and rush outside.
Lauren runs beside me laughing. When we drive off she says. "Im guessing you didnt tell your parents about Dinah?"
I look at Dinah and she rubs my hand. "Its okay." She says with a wink.
"Didnt." I confirm. "Theyd assasinate me and never let me out of the house. Id probably have to transfer schools."
"Then Id follow you." Dinah says smiling.
I give her a smirk. "Did you seriously join that school because you heard I was going there?"
She laughed and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Actually I had always gone there but yours sounds better so lets go with that."
Lauren laughed at the wheel. "You guys are adorable. Why dont you just kiss and ask eachother out already?"
Dinah raises an eyebrow at me. "Believe me Laur, Ive dropped plently of hints."
I smile and kiss her softly. "Well this time its a yes."
"Really?"
I shrug. "Why not? I love you. You love me. My parents dont have to know."
She nodded. "Thats worth it to me."
Lauren stuck her tongue out. "You guys are too dang cute."
"Wait a minute. Lauren is blind. And shes driving?" I ask this now dawning on me.
Dinah errupted in laughter. "Wow she finally noticed! Jig is up Lauren."
Lauren groaned and let go of the wheel. "Finally I was getting tired."
I was about to scream but the car stayed perfectly fine. Not swerving even. "What the hell?"
"Its cool huh? An awesome car they are testing for blind people. Its an auto piolit and the lights send signals when it needs to stop. It is able to sense all the cars from within 50 feet. Therefore should be safe."
I looked at Dinah. "This is absurd."
Lauren nodded. "I agree." She was looking directly at me and that was kindof creepy. Her green eyes open, unblinking, but she couldnt see me.
When we got to her house she showed me around. The kitchen, upstairs, bathrooms, and finally basement. Where we decided to sleep. We plopped down on the couch and had a huge movie marathon. But I didnt really watch it. I spent the entire time snuggled against Dinah. Her body keeping me warm.
I mustve dozed off because when I woke up someone was lightly playing with my hair. I looked around and saw Lauren with a camera and Dinah looking down at me with a full smile on her lips. I gave her a quick peck and Lauren giggled.
"You guys are too cute!"
Dinah seemed just to notice her. "Lauren Im going to kill you."
Lauren stuck out her tongue. I moved from Dinah and she got up immediatly, running after a now very frightened Lauren. I began to massage my head, everything kind of blury.
When they came around again Dinah looked over at me. "Do you need-"
I nodded.
Dinah grabbed my bag.
"Whats wrong?" Lauren asked.
"Can I please have a minute?" I asked sheepishly.
Lauren took a moment and i realized my speech had been a bit slured.
"Just give us a minute." Dinah said patting her back.
She nodded. "Im going to go brush my teeth."
I gave her a thankful smile. Dinah handed my bag and I took out the bottle of the silvery powder. Dinah watched me closely as I tipped some of it into a glass. Not a lot because we were going to bed soon. I swallowed roughly. Yin Fe burned everything. My bones felt like mush and my throat scratchey. Yet everything was clearer.
I packed my stuff back up quickly and smiled at Dinah. "Thank you."
"Is there anything else?"
I shook my head. "Well maybe one thing..." I gave her a grin.
Good thing she reads me easily. She closed the gap between us and kissed me passionetly. A new fire burned through me. Made of pure pleasure. I loved the way we fit together. Our lips made for each other.
"Awww!" Laurens voice broke us apart and i blushed.
"Lauren!!!!" Dinah groaned.
She rolled her eyes and crawled into her sleeping bag. "So are you 2 offical?"
I look at Dinah and she smiles. "Will you?"
"Will I what?" I ask playing dumb.
She hits me playfully. "Are you going to make me say all of it?"
"All of what?"
Dinah scopes me up bridal style and holds me close. "Normani Kordei, will you do be the honor of becoming my girlfriend until the oblivion hits?"
I step down and shake my head. "No."
Her eyes widen. "What-"
"I will be your girlfriend for eternity. Or until it becomes more than that."
She kisses my hand. "I forbid you from scaring me like that ever again though." She comments lightly.
I kiss her lips. "Maybe."
Lauren groans. "Okay thats enough for now. We need sleep!"
I giggle. "No I only need Dinah."
Dinah makes a face. "Awwwww." And she pulls me in close. Falling into a deep sleep soon after.
