I walked outside down to my tent. rustled Daryl's beside mine to get him to wake up. he groaned "what u want,"

"Can I borrow your cross bow? I wanna do some hunting." he unzipped the tent and looked at me. "fine but if you break it I break you." Thanks alot! I took it from the perch on the tree and went off to the woods. I couldn't handle being there anymore. I couldn't be around beth. not with jimmy there. but thats not the only reason, I didn't think I could forgive her. and I felt like it was partly my fault for not being able to protect her.

I walked until I came across some deer tracks. I crouched down and inspected them, they were fresh. I started to follow them. maybe tracking was just a gene thing. we all pretty much taught ourselves. I stopped dead and tensed still, the deer was ten feet in front of me eating flowers from the clearing. I raised the bow and aimed. I hit the trigger and the bolt went flying into to deers lungs. it started to run. I followed the trail of blood till my deer dropped. I ran up to it and picked it up. it was heavy and big. as I started to walk away I heard a scream.

I put the deer somewhere it wouldn't get taken by walkers and ran to the scream. I cocked the crossbow back, and was ready to aim and shoot. A woman was being eaten alive. I shot the walkers and ran up to what was left of her. she looked at me in pain. "save my daughter please" she was begging me. I didn't see anyone I was spinning in circles. she lifted her hand to a tree. a tiny little girl was sitting on a branch tears streaming down the terrified and helpless look she had on her face. I looked at the woman.

"Her names robin she's just two. please I need you to protect my baby. I know I'm taking a chance but she don't have no one left and I'm not gunna last long.''she moaned in pain.

"She's just a kid and she deserves to be a kid but I couldn't protect her well enough please just take care of my baby." "I will I promise" she pulled out a pistol and aimed it to her head. "run" I ran to the tree and scooped up Robin and ran. I heard a gunshot and felt robin's tiny body shaking with sobs.

I ran till I came across the deer. this was gunna be a hard load with both of them. I looked to Robin, then to the deer. I scooped her and put on shoulders and told to hang to my head she did and I started to drag the deer back to Hershel's. it was getting dark and robin was jumping at every sound. the moon was high in the sky by the time we made it to the fence line of the farm. Rick ran towards me. "are you alright john!? we were gettin to sendin a search party after your ass-" he looked up and saw robin. "how old is she?" I looked up then to Rick. "she's two, her names robin." Rick nodded. he knew her mom was dead.

Rick took the deer from me seeing I was exhausted. I took a new tent from the r.v and set it up alone farther out in the field alone. I set a small fire for robin to sit at when I made the tent. I put in the blankets and helped her inside. I wrapped her up and she laid there staring at me. I looked away and saw her little hello kitty backpack up against the tents wall. I looked at her dropped eyes then trapped the backpack opening it. there were three guns in side. two little machine guns and a pistol. with lots of amo . her momma was packing heat. I slightly moved stuff around and saw a tiny white teddy bear. I took it out and set it in her arms. I took my sleeping bag and laid it on the ground and got inside, I quickly fell asleep.

IN THE MORNING

I woke up and robin's face was snuggled into my shirt. she was fast asleep. I awkwardly rubbed her back. she snuggled closer. I gently picked her and moved her to the side. I took the bag of guns and ran out to the r.v, keeping my eyes on our tent. I handed the bag to Rick, he looked inside. he was shocked. He thanked me and started to walk away then stopped. John you weren't here but there's a lot you missed we need to talk. "ok sheriff but quickly I gotta take care of a few things." he noticed my gaze towards my new tent and he sighed.

"When we went to get Hershel we came across an injured boy and we took him. we have him locked in the barn." I stared at him "why did you lock him up?" He's a threat he has a huge group with lots of guns, lots of people. we couldn't risk it." I sighed. "did hershel make it back ok?" Rick looked at me and smiled. "Beth's fine John." I shook my head and shrugged it off "can u give this back to Daryl to please." I handed him the cross bow. carol was at the fire dishing out eggs on plates to everyone.

"Two plates please I gotta a little girl I found in the woods last night and she's starving." I pointed to the tent. she smiled. you should bring her out her to meet everyone. she was my distraction spend enough time taking care of her, I might forget about beth. I sighed "maybe later" probably not. her smile vanished at my sigh. I ignored it. she handed my the plates and I went to our tent. she was sitting up with tears inherent eyes when I came back in. she ran and hugged my leg. she was crying hard.

I picked her up an looked at her face. She thought I left her. I tensed up, I wouldn't leave her or abandon her like I was so many times. I know how it feels. I set her down and handed her her eggs. she wolfed them down. I have her granola bar to go with it that I found on a table. She took it gratefully. She savoured every bite of it this time. I stared at her she climbed over to me and sat on my lap. burying her head in my chest. she was gunna get bored I had to go on a run for some things. I looked at her "robin do you want some toys?" her head shot up at the word toys. I'm taking that as a yes.

CAROLS POV

John came towards my tent with a tiny little girl with bright blue eyes. She had dirty blonde curly hair. she was cute. her eyes were just like Daryl's and Merle's. she looked like she belonged in a Dixon family perfectly.

"Carol could you watch her for me, I need to run into town to get this munchkin some toys.'' he messed up her floppy hair. she slightly smiled. she never said a word tho. "how old Is she?" He looked at me slightly hi eyes never left her. "she's two" I sighed "she can't talk yet?" He glared at me. whoops. "it's kinda hard to teach her to talk when your always on the run. her momma was a pretty smart lady. this way the walkers didn't have another way to find them."

I looked at him in shock. he handed her to me and started to leave. he saw Beth sitting in the steps in Jimmy's arms and he tensed. there's definitely something going there. robin looked at john and squirmed out my arms and wrapped her arms around his leg and he relaxed. she did to. they were each others distractions. and they both needed it. they needed to feel wanted and loved. John did the last thing I thought any Dixon would do. he bent over and kissed robin on the head. She hugged him harder.

He knelt down and whispered something to her. she looked scared. he pointed to me and she slowly walked to me pouting. John got in the car and drove off. I looked to robin and smiled. "do you want to learn how to talk?" She smiled slightly and giggled nodding her head. , I scooped her up and brought her the fire. she was a big hit everyone wanted to hold her and play peek a boo with her. Andrea was the most attached. robin seemed to like her to. we got robin to say John and peek a boo and everyone's name at the farm, she was really attached to Daryl to. I think she knew he was related to John.

"Who's responsible for her." Daryl drawled on. everyone looked at me expectantly. I shook my head. "I didn't find her, she's johns. he found her while he was hunting and he hasn't left her since." they all stared at me in disbelieve. "isn't he to young? And where is he?" that was dale. "He's nineteen he's old enough to be a dad of a two year old!" and he lies this girl more then my own husband loved his daughter. That's all that I need to know he's good enough to watch her. he needs her." Shane spoke up "he's still young to have to take care of her himself." I glared at him. "he's not by himself he had all of us."

Daryl stood up and placed robin on the log with some deer meat. "my baby brother isn't responsible enough to take care of himself and this little girl. that takes responsibility and he don't really have enough of that. John walked around the side of the R.v looking mad. he had on the leather jacket he found at the highway awhile back. he also had a tiny little pink jacket that was fuzzy on the inside. "Daryl he looks responsible enough!" I yelled. Daryl saw the coat and dropped his head. John picked up robin and threw a full sheath of bolts at Daryl's chest. "John I'm sorry!" Daryl yelled after him. "screw off Daryl" Beth was coming down the stairs staring at the group. "who's that and what happened to John." no one answered we all just stared at the fire.
