Cameron and I were walking back to his house laughing and having a GREAT time when we saw Taylor and the chick he was making out with fighting in the front yard.

Cameron looked at me with dread in his eyes, “Fuck.” We ran over to see what was going on.  “What’s going on?” Cameron asked, stepping in between them.

Taylor just groaned and looked away. The girl managed to squeak out a reply in between her hysteric sobs, “He… he… HE CHEATED ON ME!”

“It’s not cheating if we were never together, Nora,” Taylor stated. He put his hands in his pockets and looked around bored.

“But.. but..” she squeaked out.

Taylor glared at her, “Why don’t you save yourself the embarrassment and just leave.”

At that she started crying more, and turned and ran down the street.

“That was cold, man,” Cameron said shaking his head.

Taylor shrugged, “It is what it is.” He looked over at me and nodded, “Carson.”

“Taylor,” I said bitterly. How could he do that to her? Apparently he was more of an ass than I had originally thought.

“You can save your lecture, Cameron. I’ve heard it enough already.” Taylor said kicking the ground.

I stood there confused for a second and then went back into the party.

It took me awhile, but I eventually found Cameron pacing back and forth in what appeared to be his room.

“Hey,” I said carefully, getting his attention.

He stopped pacing and looked at me, “Hey. Look, I’m sorry about Taylor…”

“Why are you apologizing for Taylor? It’s not your fault.”

Cameron sighed and sat down on his bed. I tentatively walked over and sat down next to him. He put his forearms on his knees and looked sexy as hell. He took a deep breath and then spoke, “I guess you’re right, it’s just… I’m always having to clean up his messes, and I’m fucking sick of it. He thinks he can just use people and throw them away like it’s nothing…” He rubbed his eyes and sighed. He looked up at me with his beautiful eyes, “Sorry I’m dumping all this on you.”

I played with my fingers in my lap not wanting to have to look at him, “Don’t worry about it. I know what it’s like to have to clean up other people’s messes.”

“Your mom?” he asked.

I just nodded.

He lay back on his bed and rested his head on one arm. I laid down next to him. “Carson, what are we going to do?”

He suddenly grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers, making my heart flutter.

I sighed, “I don’t know.”

I had bigger issues to worry about than my mom, and I was conveniently
