I stood in front of Cameron’s house and readjusted my skirt. I had butterflies in my stomach, and I didn’t know why I was so nervous.

I knocked on the door, and waited patiently. I could hear loud music playing from the other side. Cameron answered the door, looking hot as ever. “Hey,” he said.

 I smiled, “Hey!”

He nodded with his head, signaling for me to come in. He closed the door behind me and said, “You want a drink?” I just nodded.

I followed him through the crowd into the kitchen. He handed me a beer, and I gladly accepted taking a big gulp, trying to calm my nerves. I looked over to see Taylor making out with some girl in a corner, I laughed. He was really living up to be the stereotypical asshole. Cameron saw and stared laughing too, “I swear, Taylor is the biggest man-whore I know…”

“If you say he’s really a good guy once you get to know him, I think I’ll throw up. That’s just a little too cliché.” I said.

Cameron laughed, “Don’t worry, Taylor is a dick. He’s my best friend, but a total asshole. I’ve had to put up with a lot of shit from him.” Cameron looked around the wild party, “Well, enough about Taylor, do you want to get out of here?”

“Get out of here? I just got here, and isn’t this also you’re house?” I questioned.

He shrugged, “Yeah, but it’ll be fine. Aaron and Nash are here to keep the fort together.”

“Well, ok then.” I said skeptically as I followed him out of the house.

We walked for a while down the street in a comfortable silence. “So do you like it here?” Cameron finally asked.

“It’s not my favorite place,” I replied.

“You move around a lot?”

“Yeah, you could say that.”

“Military family?”

I looked over at Cameron, and something about him made me want to tell him the truth and not the lie I told most people. Usually I just said my mom’s job caused us to move a lot, but instead what came out of my mouth was, “No, my mom does this thing were whenever she breaks up with her boyfriend, she likes to pick up and move to get a ‘fresh start’. My mom has had a lot of boyfriends, so we’ve moved quite a lot.”

Cameron nodded, “How many ‘fresh starts’ have you had?”

I had to think about it for a second, “Counting this one? 10.”

“Holy shit, that’s a lot… Damn.” He shook his head in disbelief.

We finally reached a convince store and I followed him in straight to the slurpee machine. He picked up two cups and handed one to me, “I can’t lie I’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth.” He said.

I started filling mine up with cherry and coke flavored slurpee, “So do I, it’s a real problem. I have had to have like 7 cavities filled.”

I watched as he expertly filled his cup up, “That’s nothing, I’ve had 12.” I couldn’t help but laugh we he have me a boyish smile.

Dammit I was starting to like him.
