"Over waves and deep in the blue, I will give up my heart for you."
"Ten long years I'll wait to go by."
"My love will never die..."

"Mother!," Jonathan cried out, sitting up abruptly.
He panted as he calmed himself from the dream that he had, realizing that he was still safe onboard the ship. He breathed a sigh of relief and laid back down. Footsteps were heard coming towards him in a quick pace, and he saw Lui before him looking worried.
"Jonathan," he walked to him, "Are you alright? I heard you scream and I-"
"I'm ok Lui," Jonathan reassured.
"You sure?"
"Yes I'm sure."
"Thank god; I was coming here to tell you Jack wanted you up in the crow's nest again."
Jonathan sighed; he guessed it would be his job from now on. Night watching. He dragged himself from the comfy hammock to trudge up the steps to the deck. Once again in the crow's nest he began to feel his eyes droop with the setting sun, and sleep overcame him. He only wished he kept awake.
Jonathan woke up somewhere near midnight to see that the deck was all quiet, not even late night talkers around. He looked around; he clamped his mouth shut to keep a gasp from escaping. Surrounding them were five ships, all with black sails. Pirates, the only ones he could think of.
Oh god!, he thought to himself, They're gonna kill us; they're gonna kill me!
Jonathan tried to remain calm as he made his way back down to the deck and hide inside one of the barrels; he peaked through a small hole in the wood. The footsteps of different men were heard, and hushed voices creeped in the night. Jonathan kept his breathing steady and low as he watched pirates sneak around to find anyone. Five particular pirates caught his eye as he tried to listen in.
"The crew must be asleep," one said, "Along with their captain."
One in dark maroon and black clothing looked around; he started right at Jonathan, making him gasp as he flinched back a bit. The man chuckled as he turned back to the other four.
"Don't you find it the least suspicious that there wasn't anyone on watch?," he asked them.
The man started to take slow agonizing footsteps towards where Jonathan was; Jonathan was too scared to feel the tears come down.
"There would be someone to watch if there were people coming."
The man reached his barrel, placing a hand on the lid, tracing small circles on the wood. Jonathan felt his heart beat louder and faster.
"But I think that our little night watch is still here. Just too shy to come out...and say hi."
Jonathan let out a small scream as the lid was lifted and he was dragged out by his shirt. He struggled as he tried to escape but a knife was pressed against his throat. The man let out a small chuckle as he drawled Jonathan closer.
"And now, you're caught," the pirate purred in his ear.
Jonathan felt disgusted as shivers went down his spine. Soon the pillaging began, and most of the crew was killed; his friends, Jack, and captain Mark survived. The maroon dressed pirate started dragging Jonathan away as he watched the rest of his friends be plucked and dragged away as well. He was tossed into the hands of two other pirates, and they dragged him to what looked like a human sized bird cage that was secured to one of the masts on the ship. Now trapped in a cage, that hung high above the floor, he debated what his next course of action is. He laid down on the floor of the cage and pulled out his mother's locket.
Jonathan opened it, the soft tune playing out into the night. His eyes soon begin to close; sleep overcame him. Then he felt the floor seem to sink as he opened his eyes a bit to see he was back on the deck. The cage door opened. He didn't dare move, but he did close his eyes again to pretend he was still asleep.
Jonathan heard heels against metal as someone entered. A blanket was placed on him; his head was lifted by gentle hands as a pillow was placed under his head. Fingers went through his dark brown hair as he forced himself from moving. The touch went away, and soon the cage door closed and he was back above the deck. He opened his eyes to see if he could catch the person.
It was the same pirate that caught him before, walking back to what must be the captain's quarters. Jonathan never expected that from a pirate, but his opinion on them is still the same.
He's just trying to get me on my good side so I can join them, Jonathan frowns.
He cuddles back up in the blanket and holds his mother's locket close to him.
I wish you were here mother. You'd know what to do...
Jonathan kept watch on the water as he saw the ship he was on fade away. He sniffled as he held tears back.
I want to go home; I want to see my friends again.
He cried softly as he tried to imagine his mother holding him and singing his favorite lullaby; if only he could remember it.
