Hi guys, so basically I abandoned the update schedule because I can't hold myself to that promise!!! So, as school begins I promise to update whenever my schedule allows! With that, I've decided to talk about extra curricular activities and the importance!!!
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!!
So as a up and coming junior, I've had nearly three years of school under my belt. It's mega important for colleges to see that you have commitments beside school that you go to. It shows them that you're a reliable and accountable student. For example, I am a part of the Marching Band, Youth Court and a local community band.
Having things to do also is proven to keep you in good spirits; say you're always at home and it gets boring, but once you grab an extra curricular it makes your day go faster, and less boring!! It also builds your personality, and gives you an academic 'edge.'
IE; This week I've had band camp from 1-8pm every night, so I've had just enough time to get home, shower, eat then go to sleep. Also I'm getting like 4,000 steps in a day so I'm burnin' calories!!!! When a college sees that I made the massive commitment to marching band, they'll know I can commit to long college classes and they know I'll be there. It helps them see that I'm dedicated to a cause, which in turn gives me an excellent shot at getting into my reach college. (This and my GPA combined.)
Speaking of GPA'S colleges look for a GPA within the guidelines of their specific school: like George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia doesn't have the same guidelines as The University of Maine at Farmington. (Both are excellent schools btw.) If you what more information you can check out these websites;
