     Tip One

So, recently I moved to a new school. One thing I've actually dreaded was lunch time because I knew nobody. I actually sat down at a table by myself and had a lovely experience. (That's sarcasm btw.)

Eventually I got bored of sitting by myself, so I went and found another girl who was sitting by herself.

Ironically enough, she was a new student too!! We became good friends and now we have lunch together.

This tip: it's okay to be shy, but push your limits a little, otherwise you will be alone at a table like me.

Tip Two

Please don't be the kid who starts fights/plays loud music/eats a ghost pepper and vomits on the floor/who always plays 'Freebird' by Lynyrd Skynyrd on a lender guitar/causes a ruckus because they don't get what they want. Trust me on this, while it may be fun to you, the hundreds of other kids don't think it's too fun. (Yes these are all things that have happened before.)

Tip Three

One thing I also really hate is the lunch number thing. My old school used a system where we had to memorize a lunch code and punch it in every time we buy something. I suggest in order to help you remember it is to try the following:
-write it down on a sticky note.
-change your passwords to it (keep the sticky note incase you forget.)
-write it on your palm for a while.

Tip Four-

Even if you don't eat lunch in the cafe, make sure you always eat lunch. Science has proven that when you eat lunch your more prone to concentration, happiness and believe it or not it can make you more outgoing. So, if you're not a fan of the cafe go to a teachers room/office/guidance and eat there.

Tip Five

I have never had to deal with this, but I hear it's pretty common: bullying.
If someone is bullying you during lunch (or anytime of the day) you need to tell a teacher, preferably a principal, SRO**, or a guidance counselor. I am a no-nonsense person and if I ever see bullying I shut it down. Make sure you stand up for yourself, but don't make it confrontational.
**SRO refers to a student resource officer he/she is a police officer either state or local who is in charge of keeping the peace amongst other things.

Tip Six

If you buy lunch make sure you have money in you or in your account. This makes life a million times easier. It also lets you buy lunch quickly.

Tip Seven

Most school systems  have a free/reduced lunch program. If you're financially applicable you can have your lunches reduced to free or half off depending on household income. Lunch ladies/men try their best to keep this discreet and it will allow you to eat a good lunch if you're without. Don't be scared to ask about it.

Tip Eight

Be friendly. Even if you sit by yourself at lunch a smiling face is a ton more inviting than a grumpy grouch face.

Tip Nine

If you have senior/junior privileges and you can leave the campus for lunch then remember to be back in time. My school has a two strike policy, once you're late two times your privileges are removed for ten school days. (Keep your grades good too, because this applies to how good your grades are.)
