Hi guys! This chapter is about how to ease stress or anxiety the night before your first day of school. If you're like me, you get jittery and anxious about nearly anything, so here are a few tips that help me calm down, and hopefully will help you too!!

Tip One

Pack your bag before you go to sleep. This helps me chill out because I have all the time I need to double, triple or even quadruple check your bag. Here are a few things I make sure to pack (in my bag)to make my first day as painless as possible.

- One binder. Usually your teachers aren't going to be nuts about what you do/don't have. If you carry one binder with loose leaf paper, or a notebook, usually you're set.

-A folder. This is for any loose paperwork or applications you may get during the day. The folder will allow you to transport the papers to and from your house.

-A pencil case. Make sure to have a red, blue and black pen as well as several pencils. You may or may not need them, but I take them to be safe.

-A planner. This is optional; I usually start the year out using one because I want to make everything work as easily as I can. You can also use a notebook or a sticky note, just as long as you can write on it.

-A laptop/tablet. Carrying an electronic device is usually a good thing. It allows you to always have access to the internet without using your phone.

-Feminine hygiene products. Make sure to pack a few pads/tampons just-in-case. You never know what will happen so it's best to be safe!!

-Deodorant/perfume/body spray. This is a lifesaver, especially if you are wary or worried about your body odor.

-Chapstick. I don't go anywhere without a chapstick.

-Water bottle. Hydration is key, folks! I like to have water because it keeps me awake and it also offers an excuse to leave the room. (To refill it.)

Tip Two

Take some time to be mindful. You don't have to full on meditate, but taking a moment to breath and realize is completely helpful. You can google ways to meditate/be mindful, or use YouTube for pre-made videos.

Tip Three

When I'm stressed I like to clean. It makes me more calm when I know where things are, and honestly just seeing a clean room takes all the tension off your shoulders.

Tip Four

Another option is to not do anything. Go to bed early, eat a healthy dinner, and set your alarm for a few minutes earlier than normal. This will allow you to wake up an take the time you need to get ready.

Tip Four

Watch some tv. I think we all know the relaxing feeling you get when you can distract your mind from something. Try putting on Netflix, turning the sound off, subtitles on, and try to go to sleep while focusing on reading the tv. Caution: this can cause you to stay awake all night, intently binging the television show!!

Tip Five

Set your alarm for ten minutes before normal. This way you wake up, but you don't have to get out of bed for 10 minutes. This allows you to relax before you get up for the day.

Tip Six

Take a cool shower. It sucks, I know, but it will wake you right up!!
