♡  Our breathing was like the whole world chanting prayers. Sweat ran in rivulets to ravines of pleasure ♡

The kitten sighed heavily. "Touching the light means becoming dust."

"So, what do you mean?" Jane was more confused than ever.

"When you touch the light, you change. You neither become a human nor one of Galactivix people. You would dissolve into thin air by becoming merely a tiny particles of dust," Phoenix explained.

William clenched his jaw while Jane was in a trance.

"You're fine now. No need to worry. It won't happen again," Phoenix promised.

"How do you know?" William asked. "This phenomena is uncommon to me"

"It is an old prophecy," Phoenix stated.

"Geez, there are so many prophecies in this wold," Jane joked.

William smiled. "You're quite right about that"

"The prophecy says that every one hundred years Earth moves into the shadow of Galactivix. It is similar to lunar eclipse that occurs on Earth. Earth's light along with Galactivix's light join together and form a venomous kind of light. Civilians used to remain indoors until it's over"

"For how long it might usually lasts?" Jane questioned.

"It would last for about fifteen to twenty minutes," Phoenix grimaced.

"That's odd. The light lasted a few minutes," a deep husky voice said which didn't belong to either Phoenix or William.

Jane turned her head to see the owner of the voice. A guy with red hair, standing close to his horse, pulled a dagger and wiped it with his linen- shirt. "James, what are you doing here?" William hugged him. The guy said nothing his eyes were fixed on the young, beautiful girl.

He walked with heavy steps, ignoring William's question. He moved closer to Jane and kissed the back of her hand. "James Black, at your command,it's good to see you again ma'lady."

"Again?" William and Jane said at the same time.

Jane widened her eyes. "You're figuring it out, I see" James muttered.

"It was you who attacked me," Jane accused.

James roared with laughter. "Attack you? I think you mean save you"

"If you don't mind explaining, how did you save Jane ?" William said with clenched teeth.

"Well, little Willy, if it weren't for me, Jane would've touched the light."

"James, you scared her. You should apologies," William announced.

"Okay. Okay! I admit I was having a bit of fun, but a thank you would be nice too," he smirked.

"James," William warned.

"It's okay." Jane interrupted William. "I'm really grateful. Thank you"

"Hmm, that won't do! A thank you is best portrayed by a kiss"

"Wha-" Jane was shocked. She hid behind William. The guy scared her.

"James, stop it," William glared.

"Fine. It was worth it," James said in a husky tone.

"James, you shouldn't be here," William stated.

"I wanted to tell you the same thing," James said back. "Nevertheless, you have a stranger on our land. You do know if someone saw her what would happen?"

"I know, bro. It's a heck of a long story. I don't have time to explain, but it wasn't part of the plan. She's one of us now," William asserted, and James was deep in thoughts.

"So you are siblings?" Jane's gentle voice broke the silence.

"No, we are childhood friends, but he is like my younger brother," James punched William's shoulders.

"James, you're just few months older than me. How many times do I have to say it?" William sighed.

James turned his attention towards Jane. "You are very special."

William's face became vexed. "How did you know about the light?"

"William, pal, my grandma told me about the prophecy," he said.

"I should've known." William jumped from his place. "I have an idea. We have to go to your Grandma Sophia. She will have the answers and she might be able to help Jane."

"William, are you sure about that? You have a mission after all. I don't want to be the reason-"

"Jane, I don't regret helping you and don't worry we still have time" William held her hand gently. James nodded gravely.

She smiled and she read in his eyes a warm feeling. She felt safe. But a pain in her chest was invading her surroundings.

A cascading of thwacking sound was heard. William yelled, "Jane"

"William, watch out!" James pushed him to the ground.

William couldn't believe his own eyes. James was blowing fire as an attempt to stop the royal guards that were scattering like bees.

Phoenix was hiding in a tree. The kitten was shivering and weeping.

William felt weak. He couldn't do anything. Jane was motionless with an arrow in her chest. He felt his heart bleeding as if he lost a piece of him.
