It was darkness, and everyone retired to their own rooms. Jane was unable to sleep. There were numerous thoughts invading her. She found herself walking to the kitchen. She drank a cup of water. With quiet steps, she walked to the backyard and was baffled when she saw the moon and the stars. Everything was extraordinary in this unusual place. The moon reflected a blue color in the fountain. A tear fell from Jane's eyes. She felt lost. Lost with thoughts. Lost with her true identity.

Taking a deep breath, she decided to call it a night off.

Another confused mind was wide awake in this silent night. He removed the covers and walked to the kitchen to have a cup of coffee.

It was dark and the moon light was the only light that showed his the way. William descended his steps carefully downstairs. He didn't want to wake up anyone. Before reaching the kitchen floor, he heard a commotion from afar. So, he walked to the front door. Surprisingly, gran stood there with an anxiety on her face.

"Gran?"

"Shh!! The royal guards are trying to cross my lands." She said in a hush tone.

"Get James and Phoenix and I'm heading to Jane's room. Move fast."
She ran upstairs.

I march to James's room. Without bothering to knock, I open the door wide open. "James, wake up fast." William shook his friend's hand.

James's eyes flied wide open. "What the hell's going on?" He whimpered.

Phoenix followed William and James to the front door.

"Boys, Jane isn't in her room. Did you see her?" Gran asked.

"What do you mean she's not in her room?" William widened his eyes. "I'll search-"

"It's too late!" Gran put her hand on his wrist.

Heavy steps were heard and then shortly  strong knocking on the door was followed.

Gran walked casually to the door to open it.

James stood close to his Gran. A Royal guards yelled, "We have strict orders to check this area!"

"Son, I'm old but not deaf. Why are you shouting?" Gran answered back.
"You can do whatever you want. But may I ask what's troubling our mighty king this late at night? We were just startled," Gran explained.

"I apologize Lady Sophia, but we're just following orders. This's all I can say. Now, if you may?" He ushered his chin to allow them to go inside.

Gran was obliged to step aside in order for the guards to access her territory.

Six guards entered the rooms. William watched cautiously all their movements. They didn't open any drawer or touch the piles of papers scattered on the desk in the library.

James and William exchanged some glances. They were positively sure that the guards were searching for Jane.

"I apologize again for annoying you at such an hour. It was our duty that's all! Knight Dereck at your service." He bowed.

Gran nodded her head.

With the horses retreating steps, the guards rode left though they were staring suspiciously at the house.

"I can sense Jane. She's so close." Phoenix stated. "Follow me!" He flew outside the house and in the direction of the back yard.

Phoenix landed near by the fountain. William and James stopped  while Gran looked around.

"Let's search for her." James said.

"Who are we searching for?!"

Four heads turn at the same time to see the intruder.

"No way," James shakes David's hand

"What are you doing here?" William asked while hugging his friend.

"Don't say you that you were thinking of asking the same exact question. Dude that's my line," James slapped his shoulder.

David raised an eyebrow at his friend's lame comment.

"What? The same dialogue occurred between William and me." James tried to explain. Pointing at William.

"Just drop it. We have other important  things to worry about!" Phoenix interrupted.

"Who's missing Gran?" David inquired  while hugging her.

"A young girl who-" Gran started to describe her explaining briefly about the recent events.

"I think, unintentionally, I made you all a favor," David scratched his chin.

David pointed at Gran's flower garden. William didn't wait for his friend to finish. He ran to the direction of the garden. It was fifteen meters away from the cottage.

He opened the gate.

"Jane," he yelled.

"I'm over here at the back," her soft voice was a remedy to his heart.

He ran towards the direction. She was watering some flowers.

"Gran is neglecting her babies. Look how pale they seem," she carried a pot to show him but was alarmed when she saw his face. She returned the pot in its place, and walked to him. He was standing like a stick, immobile.

"Are you all right?" She walked to him but stopped when he hastened his steps and hugged her. She could feel his breath on her neck, tingling her.

"If you hug me like that, then I wouldn't be able to stop you," she hugged him back. Her arms circling his back.

"Then never stop me and never wonder around like that," he smiled.

Hey guys,

I know I've been away for so long, but don't worry I'm planning to finish what I've started.
