"Our bodies are our gardens -our wills our gardeners" ~Shakespeare
James pushed William who was frozen like a stick. All William could think about was Jane who was motionless with an arrow in her chest. She was gone and he felt an unexplained surge of electricity in his fingers and radiating from his eyes.
James ignited a fire with his hands to block the royal guards from getting any further. "William," James shrieked at the top of his lungs. Wrinkles of surprise appeared on James' head. One question popped in his mind. What the hell was wrong with William?!
Helmeted heads with red and golden beards, their eyes were fixed on death.
"You have broken a law, and you shall be punished for that," one of the guards roared as an enraged panther.
William's pupils dilated and became as a turbid limewater. With a swift motion, as if he was carrying a magical wand, thunder was pouring from the sky like a wild animal that was confined in a cage and then released to freedom.
Loud rumbling sound was followed by flashes of lightning. The azure sky turned darker with grey clouds sprawled across the sky.
Electrical charge was radiating from his fingers. A scent of rain was heady, summoning rain that dropped like a bullet on the retreating horses. Suspended in the air, William glanced at Phoenix who instantly perceived his friend's command. He opened a portal where James entered carrying Jane followed by Phoenix and William leaving behind chaos and havoc.
Reaching a green gate that was the entrance to a cottage, James looked around, knowing very well that he wasn't allowed to touch the gate without an invitation. William wounded his way to the direction of the gate before touching the gate; the latter creaked open.
"Over here," a soft voice murmured. William and James looked around but found nothing. However, Phoenix was the one to spot a letter box jumping its way to them. It had the shape of a tree house. Silently, they followed it to a balcony to be welcomed by Grandma Sophia.
"Oh poor child, let her in." She looked around to make sure no one was following, "James, upstairs dear!" she said, closing the door.
James put Jane on the bed. He looked sympathetically at his friend who never removed his eyes off her.
"You two stay outside. And Will dear, she's going to be fine," she assured.
William wanted to believed Grandpa Sophia's words, but he wanted to see her with his own eyes. He felt as if he were fallen leaves under frost. He was in pain not only heart but as well his physical state was deteriorating. It was crazy but it wasn't a matter of feelings, he was in a way connected to Jane. Her pain was his. To come to think of it, he knew she will survive but how he didn't know. Nonetheless, he wanted to see with his own eyes.
After a while, Grandma Sophia opened the door. She looked at the boys, "follow me," she ordered.
"I need to see her first," William argued.
"No, she's resting now. I have to talk to you. It can't wait." She lead the way in the corridor that looked like a maze, leaving no room for discussions. James sighed pushed his friend. "She's fine that's what matters. You'll see her later. Move."
Entering a room, fine grey canvas were hung on its walls. "Have a seat, both of you. You're in so much trouble," she glared.
