" Hyerin... "
Daniel pleaded as he carefully took her hands in his and intertwined his fingers between hers, another of his hands trailed up to her face, gently caressing her cheeks. For a moment, Hyerin looked up, locking eyes with the boy in front of her. She immediately glanced away, avoiding his gaze before she crumbled right in his sight. She willed herself not to waver under his intent stare.
Slowly, she wrenched her hands away from his, plying his fingers that remained at her cheeks. She looked down, inhaling a deep breath.
" we're not going to work. "
" hyerin- "
Daniel begged as his fingers crept up to her shoulders.
" stop. "
Hyerin raised her tone, a tinge of annoyance evident in her voice. That took Daniel by complete surprise.
" hyerin... "
His voice trailed off as he shot her a earnest look. Hyerin merely shook her head, denying that she was going to accept him once again.
" why? "
He questioned as a lone tear slid down his face, his lips quivering as he lift his trembling hands to his pockets. Reaching in, he produced a shiny metal object that seemed ever so familiar to Hyerin. Her heart skipped a beat as soon as she made up what that object was, her breath caught in her throat for too long of a moment. Her grip around the sheets tightened, her knuckles grew absolute white.
" the day you threw this in the bin, "
He paused, taking a short moment to control his emotions before continuing,
" I witnessed it. "
Everything fell in place. Hyerin finally realised why she had not been able to find the rings in the bin when she went back. Without sparing her a moment to collect and reorganize her thoughts, Daniel pursed on.
" why can't you just open your heart to me once again? All's fine even if you portrayed me like a total fool, but why do you insist that you don't even have a tinge of feelings left for me? It sucks to know that I'm the only one putting in a effort in this whole relationship. "
" you don't understand. "
Hyerin protested, her eyes glistened under the lights of the room. On the verge of crying, she forcefully sunk her teeth into the sides of her mouth to stop the sobs from escaping.
" you'll never understand. "
She mumured quietly to herself, bringing her hands up to her face as she simultaneously sobbed lightly into her palms while running her fingers through her hair in frustration. Daniel growled in desperation, pursing his lips into a straight line.
" you can't expect me to always be waiting for you, neither can you leave me hanging here without any explanation. Make your choice. "
He stood up from his seat abruptly, pushing his chair a little too forcefully, resulting in it toppling over with a loud thud. Anger was evident in his tone and actions, intimidating Hyerin by a bit. She squeezed her eyes tightly, dealing with the inner struggle within her of whether she should divulge the truth.
" how have you been? "
Hyerin asked out of the blue, forcing out a smile.
" I've been in a complete terrible mess. "
She continued.
" HYERIN! "
Daniel interrupted through gritted teeth as he slammed his fists against the wall, shutting his eyes as he took in two deep breaths.
That didn't stop Hyerin from letting out a rancorous laugh. Her heart had never been so heavy, nearly suffocating her as though a huge boulder was compressing her lungs, forcing the contents out. This was far worst then when she took her first ever examination, when she took her first national examination, when she was first informed of this happiness-wrecking illness. Hyerin felt numb, as though blood no longer flowed through her veins. This sucks.
" I have leukemia. "

HEY Y'ALL. it's the holidays rn I'm SO HAPPY I'M ADFGHKL. But being a dumb kid I am, I obviously did not perform well for my common tests, WHICH MEANS, I really have to study this holiday so I guess the slow updates will continue since I literally only have time to write during my time on the car or a few minutes before I sleep ( which I don't really do since there have been times I fell asleep without charging my phone cause I was still writing into the night...)
