She had made her big confession of the secret she had been dying to keep it to just herself. She hadn't planned to blurt that out, but it just left her lips - all naturally. Now the silence lay on her skin like a poison ; it seeped into her blood and paralyzed her brain, her pupils became dilated and there was a tremor in her hands. It seemed like she was suffering from more of a shock than him.

In complete contrast, it was just that nothing of what Hyerin had confessed was registered in Daniel's empty mind.

" wha-what...? "

That was all he managed to squeeze out in the midst the chaotic situation. This was not the answer that he had expected. Not at all. Never in his wildest imagination would he have thought that he would be that male protagonist of such a cliché story-line.

" You were right. About your choice of leaving me. "

Hyerin whispered. That struck Daniel once more. The shocked boy opened his mouth and closed it again, like a fish gasping for air. No words escaped - not even a single sound. Shock was clearly imprinted on his face. Seeing that Daniel had no visible reaction, Hyerin took it as a cue to continue.

" Daniel, leave. I don't want you to see me in a state like this. Leave before I regret my decision of letting you go. "

A pang of guilt washed over Daniel. The guilt was like gasoline in his guts. His insides died slowly in the toxicity, needing no more than a spark to set it ablaze. He felt so guilty. He was not there when she needed him the most, but she had been always supporting him with both of her hands no matter how tired or worn out they were.

" Daniel, go. "

Hyerin raised her tone at the unyielding boy, snapping him out of his stupor.  Daniel inhaled a deep breath,

" I'm not leaving. "

He declared firmly.

" I'm not leaving you alone in this suffocating white room. I'm not leaving you alone to succumb to the pain from all the IV's, heart monitors, tubes piercing through your skin. Look Hyerin, I made a promise, and I know, I don't make empty promises. "

Daniel dangled the necklace with the ring attached to it, taking Hyerin's hands and gently laid it in her palms.

The whole time Hyerin had been trying to build a wall of defense to protect herself from any future heartbreaks, she had isolated herself from any sort of communication that may land herself in similar scenarios. But brick by brick, they came tumbling down. The wall that she had been trying to hard to sustain and build, nothing was left intact, just a pile of rubber.

Hyerin collapsed into the arms of Daniel, sobbing into his chest unceasingly, hands clutching at the hems of his shirt. Daniel held her in silence, rocking her slowly as his shirt became damp from her tears. A tiny lapse let her pull away, blinking her lashes that was heavy with tears, before she collapsed again, her howls of misery worsening.

Daniel had never seen Hyerin in such a sight before, and he would never want to see it again. The smile somewhat resembling the sun, used to be plastered on her face. Not even a tinge of it remained on her.

" Hyerin, you are going to get through this. We, are going to get through this alright? "

He comforted as soon as Hyerin seemed to be a little more stable. Daniel tenderly wiped her tears stained face before moving to the sides of her lips, gently tugging it up, just enough for Hyerin to break into a small smile. He longed to see her smile that could possibly light up the whole world. But the fact that her presence was right next to him, it gave him more than just energy, warmth - it gave him hope again.

YOOO GUYS. I've decided that this will be the second last chapter and the next chapter will be the last. Sorry for the abrupt ending, but on a bright side, I'll be starting a new book. And I'll be re-doing " ALONE " ( SIKES! ) because I've decided to change it to a Guanlin fic ( after dreaming about him yesterday LMAO )!!! Do show some support :)))
