I called my brother on the way to the airport, panicked, and he told me to call the police, so I hung up and dialed. When I was about three miles from the airport, cops came but behind him and pulled him over.
I stopped by the courthouse on the way and got a restraining order against him.
Now I'm at baggage.
I feel physically sick.
Three hours ago, I thought he was going to be the man I would marry.
I thought he was going to be the father of my children.
I never thought love was even possible, and now I definitely don't.
Why would I?
Shaking my head, I go through the metal detector and get my carry on from the man.
Gate 8, that's where I'm headed.
I walk aimlessly around all of the gates until I find the eighth one.
We're not due to take off for another hour.
I dial Ethan.
On the second ring, he picks up.
"Yes? Audrey? Are you safe?"
"Yeah...I'm um...I'm safe."
"Okay." He breaths. "I swear to god, if I see that motherfucker again, I will put him in a coma."
"No Ethan, just let it rest, okay? He's just..." I close my eyes. "He's just not who I thought he was."
"I know, I know." He sighs. "What time do you get in?"
"I don't know. I have a stop in Denver...probably around ten...I can get a cab, I know we didn't plan it-"
"Oh bloody hell, Audrey, you're not getting a cab." Kendall, my brothers wife says in the background. "We will be there."
I laugh nervously.
"Okay."
"Attention travelers, flight 307 has been delayed due to a winter storm in Colorado. It is expected to be rescheduled for late tonight or tomorrow morning. I apologize for the inconvenience."
"Are you fucking kidding me." I mutter.
"Was that you?" Ethan asks.
"Yeah 307. That's me."
"Oh, I had that happen once and went home, expecting them to call me and when I went to the airport for the supposed flight, it had already taken off and the flight attendant told I should have gotten there sooner." Kendall says.
I sigh.
"I'm going to figure it out. I'm in San Francisco and that's an hour from San Jose." I sigh. "I'm going to go, I'll let you guys know."
"Alright." Ethan says. "Love you. If you spot that bitch, get security, okay?"
"Yeah." I grumble in response. "Love you too."
We hang up.
People waiting at my gate are arguing with flight attendants.
I shake my head and look around.
I spot a bar.
That's where I'll go until my flight can take off.
I never understood why inter storms are such a big deal. I don't know what black ice is. I mean I do, but not really.
I've never seen snow before.
I was born in Sydney, Australia and I was shifted around through foster homes my whole life with my older brother until I turned eighteen, when my brother took me to America, to Florida. He found Kendall and got married and I found Ashton and went to California.
