After we got to his house and settled in, we all went and sat around the kitchen and talked.

I'm shy and I was just very quiet.

My family talked more to his than I did. Noah was already there when we got there and Spencer introduced us. Ethan, Kendall and I already knew him, but my Mum and Emily didn't.

So now we're all in the kitchen and we keep offering to help clean up from dinner, but his Mum keeps refusing.

They have a dog. His name is Jax, and he's a German Shepard.

"Audrey, how about you go with me to walk Jax?" His Mum asks.

"Mom." Spencer warns.

"Oh hush." She says.

"Um...okay." I say.

My shoes are still on, so she puts the dog on a leash and opens the front door.

I walk out, and she walks out behind me.

We walk in silence until we get slightly down the street, and then she takes a deep breath.

"I understand you are supposed to be married right now." She says.

Fuck.

"Yes ma'am." I say.

"But you're not." She continues. "Because he cheated on you."

"Yes." I say.

"Audrey, my son loves you." She says. "A lot. From the moment he met you, he called me and talked to me about you for an hour. Your accent, your hair, your smile. He said you were rude to him."

I swallow.

"Yes." I nod.

I'm not going to lie to her.

"I'm not angry at you for that. You were leaving your cheating fiancé and Spencer was a new guy. You weren't ready, and that's okay. My son loves you. You are the first girl he has told me about, and my son is very handsome. I know you're not the only girl." She says. "Anyways, now you came back after leaving for a year, and I understand leaving. You didn't know who you were, and I'm glad you took the time to figure it out before entering a relationship. I'm glad you figured out who you are. I'm glad you got rid of the ring." She takes a deep breath. "but sweetie, Spencer is a big guy. Tall and muscular, and he may not seem like it, but he's a big love. He likes animals, and kids, and he watches cartoons in the morning. He isn't immature at all. He's a grown, gentlemanly man. But, because he is a big love, he is also very sensitive. He will get upset when he feels like he has done something wrong, even if he hasn't."

"I know." I nod.

"You know?" She stops walking to look at me.

"Yes ma'am."

"He got upset? What happened?"

Bloody hell. Spencer is going to kill me

"We were um...kissing." I say. "And touching," I swallow. "And I want to wait until marriage to have sex, and we stopped when it got too...intense." This is mortifying. "And he got upset and left." I sigh.

"And what did you do?"

"Well...I won't lie. I hid for an hour because I didn't know what to do, but when I came out of the room, Emily told me his keys were still here and I got worried and went looking for him, and he was sitting outside my door, he said he couldn't bring himself to come back in to get his keys. He said he violated me and I told him he didn't, that he did nothing wrong, that I would stop him when I was ready, and he reminded me I did stop him and then we started kissing again, and he tried to blame himself but I reminded him that he was the one to stop it all, and then, when he was okay, I asked him to come inside."
