"Samuel! Samuel! Wake up this instant!!" The yell echoed through his room. He opened his eyes instantly and saw his mother standing there. He felt Charles still wrapped around his back.
"We will talk about this when you get home." She said pointing to him and Charles." Right now you're late for school." She said. "I have to go to work."
Samuel wearily lifted his head up to the alarm clock. 8:45 the red numbers flashed.
"Oh my!" Samuel said instantly hopping up off the bed as his mother left the room.
"She's going to work?" Charles said, still half asleep.
"Yeah." Samuel answered quickly as he grabbed a shirt from the cabinet and threw it over his head.
"Then why don't we just stay here?" Charles asked.
"Because I've already missed 9 days this year." Samuel said urgently pulling a pair of dark blue jeans up his legs.
Charles groaned. "Can I wear your clothes we're like, the same size probably."
Samuel reached into his dresser and threw a pair of ripped black skinny jeans and a grey shirt at him.
"Ugh." Charles complained. "I hate skinny jeans."
Samuel, still gathering all his things said "shut up and put your fucking pants on Charles."
Charles put on the shirt first. "It's hot when you cuss." He said looking at Samuel.
"You know what else will be hot?" Samuel asked staring directly at Charles. "When you go to school in boxers because you won't put on fucking pants."
Charles stared back up trying to to laugh before he finally pulled the pants halfway up his waist. He had to stand up and jump to pull them the rest of the way but he finally got them on.
"I don't have any of my papers or anything for school." Charles said as they started to walk out of the bedroom door.
"Well you should've thought about that one when you offered to stay the night at my house on a Sunday."
"Cmon Sam do you really want to go to school? What's one day gonna hurt?" Charles said. "Also why are you in such a rush we're gonna be late either way and they've probably already counted us absent."
Samuel sighed. "You're probably right." Samuel said as he dropped his book bag by the door.
"It'll be fine." Charles said, looking down at Samuels book bag.
He looked up at Charles. "You have to leave though. My mom wants to talk to me when she gets home. I have no clue how she'll react. Did she say anything to you?"
Charles shook his head no as he sat down on the arm of the couch and brushed his hair back.
Samuel sat down beside him. "Do you miss doing all those sports?" Samuel asked.
Charles shook his head "id rather be sitting here or by the railroad in the field with you than there."
Everything was quiet before Charles sat up. "I- better go." He said standing up.
"You don't have to go yet." Samuel said quickly.
"I- I better." He said as he grabbed the door handle. He turned his head back around before opening the door.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
Samuel nodded sadly.
"Meet me at the railroad after school?"
Charles said with a small smile on his face.
Samuel nodded.
"Well alright." Charles said, still smiling.
"I- I love you." He said, the words falling awkwardly out of his mouth.
"I love you too." Samuel whispered.
Charles took his hand off the door and turned completely around. He brushed Samuels hair back and placed a small kiss on his forehead.
"Goodbye." He whispered afterwords as he walked out the door.
Samuel went to the window and watched him walk away, his black hair falling, in Samuels mind, perfectly and how good he looked in Samuels clothes. As for Sam, a dumb smile spread across his face. He could tell how deeply he was falling in love with Charles. It both scared and excited him. What everybody said about High school relationships, what if it didn't last?
He took a deep breath and closed the curtains. He sat down on the couch and turned on the TV, feeling guilty he didn't go to school, knowing he'd have to make up an excuse for his mom.
