Samuel sluggishly threw his bag off to the side of the room until the bell rings. He sat alone at the breakfast table and would often look over at the popular kids who were laughing and talking and making all the supervisors angry, telling them not to do things but the continued to do it. But the one the school was most obsessed with sat in the middle at the top of the table. His name was Charles Lee.
He was short but muscular and liked to pick fights. He had only even been beaten in a fight once and that was with another popular kid. His name was John and supposedly Charles was talking badly about his father or something. Oddly touchy subject for someone who still had a father.
He pulled out a piece of paper and started to write. Not anything of importance just how he thought today would go. He did this every morning and always threw them in the trash when the bell rung. The table bounced and he looked up to see Aaron Burr.
Aaron Burr was a year above him, he always sat there too, nothing unusual. Sometimes though Burr's friends who he hated sat there too. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. They always tried to make him uncomfortable. Today was one of those days. Jefferson sat to the left side of Burr and Madison sat beside him. There was rumor that those two were gay but they would deny it with their life and threaten anyone who asked them, mostly Thomas.
See Samuel may had not been the most popular in the school but he heard what happened from people telling other people or Burr and his friends talking about it. There were plenty about him too but that's for another time, they aren't very important with considering most are true.
Samuel didn't hate too many people he was a calm neutral but when it came to Alexander Hamilton he felt like he was talking to a brick wall. He never listened to anything he had to say and would often say rude things about his good ideas. The worst part was they had most classes together and for some reason, some strange fate they were always partnered together in group work. Even the counselor talked about their constant arguing with them but they just had very different thoughts. He would admit Alexander was smart in his own ways but he knew he was smarter both book smarts and street smarts. Alexander always ran his mouth, someone would stand up to him one day.
Finally the bell rang and they were dismissed to their first period classes. His was reading which he would love if it wasn't for the teacher. His name was Mr. Washington and for some reason, he hated Samuel. He hated Lee too though and always chose favorites and the most and least popular in the classroom were neither of his.
So he took his spot in the very back row and waited for the teacher to sit and the desk or go to the chalkboard. So nothing too out of the ordinary happened today, he just sat through classes quietly and tried to remember if he's even spoke one word today. He threw flung his book bag into the bus seat and scooted close to the wall. He put his head against the metal bus wall and looked out the window. Then suddenly the weight in the seat shifted. He looked over, surprised. Charles Lee. He scooted even closer to wall and clutched onto his backpack he felt unsafe and nervous with somebody, let alone Charles Lee sitting there.
He felt self conscious, how he was just staring out the window, was that weird? Wait. Why did he care what this guy thought about him?
He let his body relax a bit and looked over at Charles who was smiling as he was texting someone on his phone.
Charles got off about two miles before Samuels house. He got off at the track field as did some other guy that Samuel didn't recognize.
When he got home he immediately threw his bag to the side and threw himself onto the couch. "I'm home mom!" He said loudly to let her know he was at least here.
"Okay. Dinner will be done in a few minutes." She said.
Samuel nodded and proceeded to write about what happened today.
