My eyes were wide as I watched the scene in front of me. Level E vampires were feeding on the Night Class who were being held against their will by one Rido Kuran. Hanabusa noticed me standing there and sent me a pleading look and I felt the protectiveness I had over my mate kick in. I went to rush towards Rido when he suddenly appeared behind Yuki, his arm wrapped around her neck, holding her there.
"Careful, Princess, we wouldn't want you accidentally hurting Yuki, now would we?" He smirked.
I glared at him. "You are scum, let them go."
He laughed slightly. "I see you picked up my dreadful fiance's sass while she was your tutor," he began to smirk again, "But, if you're being honest, I was the better teacher, wasn't I?"
I rushed up to him so then I was only a few inches away, Yuki standing in between us, trying to reach for the Artemis rod that was attached to her leg. I looked at her with wide eyes, she made eye contact with me and then grabbed the rod, sliding it out of the holster and hitting Rido with it. It shone brightly, then turning into a scythe rather than a rod.
"I am a Guardian of this academy! It is my duty to protect it. Let them go!" Yuki yelled at the Level E vampires.
Out of fear they all backed away from the Night Class. Rido then turned onto me and Yuki, we began to fight him, Yuki using her new scythe and me just using hand-to-hand. Suddenly, Yuki's scythe was knocked from her hand, Rido getting her into a chokehold, but not applying enough pressure to actually harm her.
"I remember drinking Juri's blood," Rido mused, sniffing Yuki's neck slightly, "It was so sweet and delicious. I wonder if your's will be the same. She had cried out for your father to save her, I wonder if you will cry out for the one you love as well Yuki."
Yuki looked confused, not knowing who to call out for. Then I decided to step in. I had rushed forward in order to protect Yuki, but instead, Rido grabbed my arm, flinging me behind him just as a gunshot rang out. My eyes widened and I felt a bullet enter my head. I fell to the ground, hearing a second gunshot and feeling arms catch my body.
I closed my eyes and let the blackness settle in.
