Recap from chapter 15....
"Trevor."
"I did something for you, now you have to do something for me." He said.
"What?" I asked. I was willing to anything to get my sour patch kids. I've been craving those for the longest.
"Kiss me."
..........................."Do what?" I asked almost choking on air.
"What?"
"Wait....what'd you say?"
"I said kiss me." He said shrugging his shoulders as if it were nothing.
"Um. No."
"Why not?"
"You're not my boyfriend." I said in a duhh tone.
"And?"
"You have to be my boyfriend to kiss me."
"Can I be your boyfriend?" He asked.
"Um......"
"You still on ol' dude huh?"
"Ol' dude?" I asked not understanding who he was talking about.
"Chris, Dawn."
"Oh...look--"
"He got a girl. He moved on, why can't you? I would never assume that you would lie about anything like he did. I know there is truth in your heart." He said.
"It's not that easy to move on."
"How? Hm? How is it not easy?"
"Because, we've been through a lot and I've spent so many nights of talking on the phone with him and laughing with him and telling him stuff I wouldn't dare to tell anyone else. I loved and trusted him to where I thought he could fill the hole in my heart that I've had for so long. He was the other half of me that I was looking for. But he didn't think the same way I did, so he left me and got with Autumn. It's hard to know that someone you love doesn't love you back. And to watch them love another person? I'll be damned if I was to "move on." I can't move on." I explained.
He kept quiet and stood from his seat.
"You can find another ride back home, since you cant move on." He spat and tossed the sour patch kids in my lap.
I didn't know what to say. I didn't mean to offend him, I was just speaking on what's been on my mind lately.
¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤Once the game was over, I called my mom but she didn't answer. This went on about 5 times until I gave up. My house isn't too far from here so I can walk.
"Hey." I heard a familiar voice call. It was Chris.
"You got a ride?"He asked. I nodded my head yes even though I was lying.
"Oh yeah? I'll sit here with you until your ride gets here."
"No, that isn't neccessary. I can wait alone." I said.
"Get in the car."
"But--"
"Get in the car Dawn." He repeated. Instead of arguing with him I got in.
He closed the door behind me and got in on his side. Before he cranked up his car I stopped him.
"Seatbelt."
"Ok mom." He mumbled before putting it on.
"So...where's Trevor?"
"Uh, he went home early."
