"You mad at me?" I asked.
"Yeah, you got my J's wet." He rung his shirt out as I got on my phone.
"Hey." He nudged my arm.
"But I still love you though."
..........."Dont say that." I said getting up from the bench.
"Wait, whatchu mean?" He got up as well and turned me around.
"Dawn, what's wrong with me saying that?"
I shrugged and began to walk toward the boardwalk. He followed me of course and grabbed my arm.
"Dawn dont ignore me. Answer my question."
"Its not true." I said as he let my arm go.
"Whats not true?"
"You saying you love me." He waved me off and sat back on the bench.
"I wouldnt say it if it wasnt true." He mumbled. I didnt say anything in response. Instead, I got the towel that was in his car and my gym clothes and went to the nearby public bathroom to dry off.
As I was putting my clothes on, Chris called my phone.
Why is he calling me? I thought.
"Yes?"
"Where you at and why you left?" He asked clearly pissed off.
"I didnt leave, I'm in the bathroom." He hung up without saying anything else which was kinda rude.
A minute later I heard the bathroom door open.
"Dawn." I heard Chris call out.
"You cant be in here Chris."
The stall suddenly opened making me jump and cover myself.
"Chris I'm still dressing!"
"Woah, who you yelling at? Don't get beat." He said.
"Get out, I'm dressing!"
"You mad?"
"No, you scared me." I explained putting my shirt on.
I stepped out the stall and put my hair up in a bun.
"So I cant say I love you anymore?" He asked.
"No."
"......I love you."
"No you dont. Stop saying it if you dont mean it." I said with all seriousness. He laughed at me which angered me.
"Chris I'm serious."
"I know. Its cute." I walked out the bathroom and began to order an uber.
"Dawn c'mon now, you trippin."
"You're not taking me serious, so I'm leaving."
"Okay, I'm sorry baby. Imma put my other clothes and we're gonna finish this conversation. Okay?" He said.
"Okay."
He disappeared into the bathroom as I cancelled the uber.
"Dawn! Go get my shoes out the car!" He called.
I did as told and waited outside.
"Did you get them yet?"
"Yes."
"Are you gonna give them to me?" He asked in a duh tone.
"I cant go in the boy's bathroom."
"Dawn, no one else is here just come in." I sighed and quickly went in the bathroom.
