After the cops left, everyone went away except for Chris. My mom left during the scene, I guess it was too much for her to handle.

"You wanna come over? My moms ain't home."

"Sure." He grabbed a hold of my hand and led me to his house.

The only part of his house that I've seen was his room so I was surprised at how many pictures he had in his living room.

I stopped at one particular picture of me and him. It was the Snapchat selfie we took at school when I was in Ms. Tina's class.

"I made two copies, I meant to give you the other one, it slipped mind." He said as he snaked his arms around my waist.

"Oh."

"Let me go get some cream for your face."

"I'm coming with you." I stated as he began to walk off.

I followed him to his bathroom and watched him as he went through his medicine cabinet.

"Alright, sit on the counter." I did as told and waited while he read the instructions.

"Okay, I'm only gonna put a little." He held my face still and applied some on.

"Ow! Chris that burns." I said quickly wiping it off.

"Dawn it can't hurt that bad. Stay still."

"But it hurts." I whined as he put my arms to my side.

"It'll only hurt for a few seconds."

He began rubbing the cream on my cheek once again and gave me a stern look when I began to pull away.

"Did he hit you anywhere else?"

"No." I muttered focusing on the cream.

"So, what happened?"

"He uh, tried to have sex with me but I bit his arm and he hit me." I explained turning my attention to my hands.

"He didn't touch you anywhere did he?"

"No, he didn't get the chance to." He nodded and grabbed a hold of my hand.

"I know I already said this, but please speak up about stuff like this. When I was younger, I went through the same thing. My mom use to get beat by her boyfriend when I was younger and I was too scared to speak up about it. One night, he came home really drunk and tried to kill her. I don't want the same to happen to you or your mom."

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you--"

"It's fine, just make sure you tell me if something like this happens again." He said and cupped my face with his hands.

"Okay."

"Ya know, you haven't sung me anything in a while..."

"You haven't sung me a song yet." I said.

"I don't sing."

"You should. I heard you humming once." My phone began to ring, it was my mama.

"Hello?"

"Where are you?" She asked.

"At Chris's house."

"Come home, we gotta talk." She hung up the phone.

"You gotta go?"

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow."

"I'm coming by your room tonight." He said as he walked me to his door.
