What's the point a story if nothing is happening? No matter how epic you write or powerfully great your character is, if nothing is happening, the story would pretty much hit a huge wall quickly and come to an abrupt stop.
Make sure something important to the plot of the story is happening in each chapter or scene. If you have a great scene that isn't fitting in, cut it out and replace it with one that would fit in and allow the story to progress smoothly.
