At this stage, you would likely have realized one way or the other that writing a novel is no easy feat.
Also just like the saying "one mans meat is another mans poison" or "one mans trash is another mans treasure" in writing, you could say 'one writer's form of paradise is another writer's form of nightmare'.
You can't just jump straight into writing and expect to produce something without planning. This can help prevent or avoid character and plot mishaps.
Every piece, from movies, songs, books, poems and many more that I can't think of have a story to tell and once it has something to tell, it can be summarized.
I don't like stressing over the summary of the novels I write but some deem it a wise practice to try the 'One Sentence Summary Method'.
The name is self explanatory but let me explain, for those that might not understand. All you have to do is write one sentence that summarizes your entire story.
Think of it as the hook that will draw readers to your book when selling on the shelves or when its even out there. This is an art so practice till you feel like you constantly get it right.
For example, "A young, intelligent, tall and dark skinned boy meets the average girl in a hospital, sent to kill him and now has to find a way to escape from prison and disappear."
You do not have to stress over or insert the character names if you haven't thought of one. Just put in a good description of the character you're writing about.
This one sentence would have the most important details about your book such as how it will end and thus it will enable you to be focused and reach that finish line.
In my case, for those that want to summarize before or after they have written the book should follow this.
When you decide to add onto this to beef up the summary, depends on your preference (so maybe you'll want to write your final summary after you have finished writing your piece, go ahead......
I feel this approach is much better when you have written your piece).
