Rushing back into the house I glanced in the mirror and plucked a twig from my hair. Walking to find my parents and brother waiting at the front porch I slid into line with them and threw a smile at my parents. Seeing them relax a bit I just elbowed Jesse's mate and rolled my eyes at her. Stifling her giggle we were both smiling when the cars started pulling in front of the house. Since my dad had taken over we had converted my grandparents old house into one where visiting pack alphas could stay with their men. Before we had given them a cabin but dad thought it was a little impersonal. Seeing them park, I stood up straight and got ready to meet this new Alpha. Seeing a jean clad leg canvased in sneakers emerge from the large truck, we all turned our attention there while the others slowly started emerging. Seeing him adjust his green button up shirt and turn I gasped softly to myself. It was that guy from the forest I'd been questioning this morning. Surely this couldn't be there alpha?

"Alpha Daniel!" My dad said walking towards him with his hand extended. Shaking hands he led him up the porch where we were all introduced. Seeing his gaze falter slightly and a slight grimace come to his lips gave me a small satisfaction that we were at least in the same boat. Starting with my mom he began shaking hands and introducing himself. Getting to me I saw him hesitate before reaching out his hand. Taking it I felt the sparks. My concern for his embarrassment this morning went out the window. Pulling my hand back quickly, I waited on what my father was going to say.

"Alpha Daniel, it's been a long time! Before my pups here were born even. I'm sorry about your father, he was a good man." Seeing Alpha Daniel nod wearily, I realized the reason he was so young and an alpha was because he dad died in a rogue attack. Feeling a small bit of pity for him, I felt it immediately wash away when he looked at me with a scowl. Scowling back I heard my dad say, "Well, Jesse and Stephen will show your men to their rooms and we are going to have Maddie here show you to yours. Lexi and I will start getting lunch set up so you guys come on down when you're ready." Smiling my dad and mom ushered everyone inside. Feeling him behind me I stalked forward, up the stairs and to the room across the hall from mine. Throwing open the door I ushered him inside before closing it quickly, rounding on him I saw his eyes narrow in suspicion.

"Where you going to tell me?" I seethed out.

"What was the point?" He asked calmly before setting his bag down on the bed. "I don't want a mate, especially a runt. I have no intention of making you my Luna."

"That's good because I wasn't fond of the idea anyway." I hissed out at him, I felt a pang in my chest at his words but I wrote it off. "Jack ass."

"Well if you had been honest with me in the forest we could have resolved this whole issue." He said leveling me with a stare.

"If I were honest? Well Mr. Alpha what about you?"

"I didn't lie. I was scouting for the alpha. The alpha is me. I scouted for myself." He told me with a small grin.

"Took you a while to think of that, didn't it?" I cheekily shot out with a smile. Walking to the door I was about to exit before I heard him speak up.

"Going to tell your parents you're sick so you don't have to eat with the jackass Alpha?"

"No. I'm going downstairs to eat lunch with the jackass Alpha and then I'm going to go on a run." I told him before I sashayed out of the room. Heading down the stairs I got to the bottom before my mom turned expectantly at me.

"Any of them your mate sweetie?" She asked hope in her eyes.

"No mom." I told her crossing my fingers behind my back. I hated lying to her but I couldn't let her know that jack ass upstairs was my mate. They'd force me to go with him. No way was I doing that!
