Maddie POV

Struggling to get the silver cuffs off of my wrist, I felt a tug on the chain. Seeing the big guy who hauled me out of the car pulling on it, I tugged at it to no avail. This wasn't like the last time where he was distracted. Holding onto my spot I tried to maneuver my wrists so he would pull the cuffs of. Watching a wolf come up behind him and bite his throat had me shriek out in surprise. Dropping the chains he brought his hands up to the blood gushing out. Collapsing onto the ground I watched silently for a minute before turning my attention back to the wolf looking at me. Watching the wolf transform into Hank, I let out a sigh of relief. Rushing over to me, he looked at the cuffs for a second before going over to the big guys, ripping his shirt off, he wrapped his hands in the cloth before grasping each side and pulling down swiftly. Feeling the cuffs break loose, I let out a whoop of joy and pulled Hank into a hug. Pulling back quickly, I started to take off in a direction when I felt Hank grip my arm.

"We have to get you somewhere safe!" Looking at him incredulously I shook my head vehemently. "Maddie this isn't up for debate!" He yelled at me.

"I'm not going anywhere. These are my wolves too and if they are out here fighting then so am I!" Pulling my arm out of his grasp I took off into the battle. Seeing a large wolf I recognized as Keith locked into battle with 2 wolves, I quickly jumped on the back of one of them and broke his neck. Seeing Keith neatly rip the others throat out, I nodded at him. Seeing him change back into his human form I held up my hand before he could speak. "I'm not going to hide away from a fight that was started because of me." Seeing his grin I returned it quickly with one of my own and we took off in different directions to help out the others. Seeing my dad and brothers fighting off several wolves, I went to go help a lone wolf fighting off several by himself. Coming up beside him, we nodded and started to fight the wolves in front of us. Charging at the one I was fighting, I reached out and kicked their jaw, seeing them shake their head, I got closer and kicked again. Watching them back up, I kept chasing them and kicking and punching. Eventually backing them up to the tree line, I slowly advanced on them before feinting in one direction and going in the other to attack. Sensing what I was doing the wolf, darted in the direction I moved from. Growling in frustration I quickly scaled a low branch intent on chasing them when I saw Daniel caught in a trap and three wolves advancing on him. Gasping I jumped down and ran over to him. Running up next to him, I put my hand on his neck. Feeling him glance over, I felt my growls coming out in full force when the change overtook me. Shaking I felt my bones popping out of place and rearranging themselves. Standing next to Daniel in my wolf form, I looked at my paws and realized I was bigger than my last shift. Shaking it off, I looked at Sean and growled low and deep. Seeing him change back into human, I took a step forward in front of Daniel.

"You still protect him?! After all he did to you? You are weaker than I thought!" He spit out. Hearing Daniel's growls behind me I turned slightly to slide my head under his chin. Hearing him calm down slightly, I turned back to Sean and started to stalk forward. Changing he started to charge forward at me, before I picked up my pace and we met in a tangle of fur, teeth and blood. Getting my feet up to scratch at his belly I dug in deep until I felt the thin tissue rip more with my sharp back claws. Feeling his teeth dig into my ear had me yelping out but I quickly maneuvered my head to dig into his exposed throat. Feeling him scramble to pull back I dug my claws into his belly and bit down harder on his throat. Hearing him whimpering in pain, I held on as I heard fights starting up closer to me. Feeling his attempts to pull back get weaker, I shook and didn't let go until I felt him slump over. Letting go I stepped back gingerly. Watching as all the other wolves realize Sean was dead, they started to run into the woods towards escape. Changing back into my human form, I went over to the trap. Studying it for a second I found a lever to press which should release it.

"Hold on for just a second Daniel. I think I can get this thing to let go." Pressing the lever I watched as the trap sprang open and Daniel, tore his foot from it. Turning he limped over the couple of steps before changing and pulling me into a tight hug.

"I know I don't deserve this but dammit just give me a second." He whispered against my hair. Standing still, I let him hug and smell me for a minute before he let go. Stepping back he gave me a sheepish smile.

"I won't tell Rachel." I mumbled out. Looking down at the ground, I shuffled my feet for a minute before turning to go find my parents now that the fighting had stopped. Feeling his hand reach out and grab my wrist had me stopping and turning to look at him.

"I kicked Rachel out. I..." Hearing him pause and run a hand through his hand had me smirking a little bit. "I think we need to talk."

"After we make sure everyone is ok." Shaking my wrist out of his hand, I started to walk away when I felt him grab me again. Growling at him slightly, he quickly dropped my wrist.

"Maddie, we need to get you checked out first." Looking down at all the dried blood and wounds I had, I slumped a little but nodded my head. Allowing him to lead me towards the hospital quarters, I sank onto the bed once we got into the room. Hearing him excuse himself to go grab a doctor, I sat there growing weary with the passing minutes. Standing I went over to grab a hospital gown from the cabinet before going to sit back on the bed. Hearing a stampede of feet, I jumped up and braced myself for attack when my family ran in. Laughing at their relieved expressions, I felt myself being engulfed in hugs from everyone. Eventually I was passed to my dad who held me the longest. Kissing the top of my head, he just held on for a minute murmuring quietly. Hugging him back, right before he pulled away, I saw tears glistening in his eyes. Hearing the door open, I turned to see Daniel leading the doctor in. My mom ran over and pulled him into a big hug. Seeing my brothers clap him on the back, had me gazing at him questioningly. Giving me a half smile he mouthed that he'd tell me later. Rolling my eyes at that, I settled back on the bed as Dr. Lee started to kick them all out and walk over to me.

"Well, let's see what I'm working with." Starting at the wounds on my legs he made notes on his chart as he poked and prodded. Stepping over to a counter, he grabbed some bandages and a cleaning agent. Hissing out a breath as he started to clean out the wounds on my legs, I felt him bandage and wrap them up. Moving up to my arms, he started to clean and bandage those as well. When we got to my hand, he excused himself for a minute. Leaving the room, I waited anxiously until he came back in with a few other items. Looking over my hand more thoroughly he stitched it up and then put a bandage on it.

"Well, I'll put you on some antibiotics. You not having a wolf is really doing a number on your ability to heal but I think you should recover nicely from this point on. You come back so I can clean those again in a few days but until then get plenty of rest." Patting my knee he started to stand when I cleared my throat stopping him.

"Dr. Lee, I got my wolf back today." Stopping he turned to look at me.

"Well why didn't you say so earlier? I'll check her out too. Go on and shift." Shifting I let him check over my wolf before he let me shift back and put the gown back on.

"She's bigger now." He told me making several notes on his chart.

"I noticed. Not by a lot but bigger." I told him with a shrug.

"She's healthy, which is good. Stronger too. You're healing ability and any others you may have lost will come back slowly, but they should all come back." Noticing that I was biting my lip he gently patted my knee. "Stop worrying Maddie. You'll be good as new before long. Our only concern now is that hand." Nodding at the one the knife had been stuck through. "You rest for a few days and you'll feel back to normal." Standing I stopped him one last time before he walked out.

"How many did we lose today?"

"As far as I can have heard and can tell, we haven't lost any yet. Several are in a bad way but they should bounce back." Sighing in relief I smiled at him as he exited. Leaning back against the pillow I shut my eyes and started to fall asleep when I heard the door open quietly. Mumbling out, I felt the tingles as Daniel picked me up. Protesting softly, I heard him laugh and tell me to relax. Sighing out, I fell asleep in his arms.
