YOU WEREN'T big on celebrations, but today was one of the few days seemed worth celebrating. Your boyfriend's birthday is today, and you intend to make it one of the happiest days for him. You had everything set up, of course, but the cake.
In fact, it seemed like life started hating you the moment the store bought cake fell down from the edge of the kitchen counter. You groaned, "Fuck, I have to clean this shit."
Luckily, Keanu was out with his mother and his sisters at the moment. They were helping you keep your boyfriend occupied while you made arrangements for the party. Honestly, you've been cleaning and setting up by yourself for a few hours already.
After you cleaned and disposed of the ruin cake, you sighed.
"I need a cake again." You mumbled. But you couldn't run back to the store, so you took matters into your own hands. You would make a cake, and you were sure you had the materials for it. Plus, isn't a homemade cake more personal?
So, with the remaining time you had, you rushed to start baking the cake. You washed your hands and followed the usual instructions behind the cake mix box, and hoped for the best once the cake was placed in the oven.
Usually, your younger sister was the one to bake pastries, and they came out extravagant. But you weren't your sister, and a wave of insecurity rushed throughout you. What if no one likes the cake, especially Keanu?
But it was too late to go back now, so you pushed aside any uncertainty, taking the cake out of the oven when it was ready. While waiting for the cake to cool down, you occupied yourself by making any last minute preparations for the party. Soon, Keanu's friends would be showing up.
After you felt the place was ready, you head back to kitchen to decorate the cake. You iced the cake with white and blue icing, hoping to make it look as simple and professional as possible. By the time you were done, you heard the doorbell rang.
"Surprise!" The crowd, now filling your living room, cheers out as Keanu walks into the house. He's shocked, and you felt so in love as a huge grin breaks out on his face.
"Thank you guys!" He replies back, and the party is on full swing. You thanked Keanu's family and River for helping you coordinate this.
The cake, much to your nervousness, was just served and the reactions seemed positive. But who knows, they could be bluffing?
"[Name]?" Keanu asks a few moments later. The two of you are in a more secluded area, and the moment feels intimate.
"Yeah babe?" You question back, smiling at him, feeling so in love. I mean, how much more lucky could you possible get?
"Thank you so much. I know you planned all of this, and I appreciate it so much. Plus, I love the cake." Keanu thanks you, taking your hands into his, and pulled you into a kiss.
You kissed him back, it was brief yet passionate, and you've never felt so infatuated. After the two of you break the kiss, you laughed.
"I'm glad you like the cake. It turns out I accidentally knocked over the store bought cake and made a new one." You confess sheepishly, scratching your scalp.
"The cake isn't store bought? Oh, I didn't know you made it!" Keanu spoke in surprise, and you shrugged.
"I have mad skills at baking, that's why you didn't notice, babe." You smugly tell him, and he playfully rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, okay babe, keep telling yourself that." Keanu retorts back, and you responded in a pout.
"Let's go dance, Reeves!" You exclaim, taking his hand and dragging him to living room.
"Okay, Mrs. Reeves!" He replies, leaving your heart fluttering. You weren't sure if he was joking or not, but you would love to be with Keanu the rest of your life.
