Mikey's POV

About ten minutes after I sat down at the steps, my best friend Frank joined me. He started looking around, studying all the new people.

"Look," he said, pointing to a girl who seemed to be a freshman, "she's new."

"Frank," I said, "there's a whole grade here that's new. She's a freshman." He nodded and continued looking around.

"What about them?" he asked, pointing to a boy and a girl under a tree. I looked at them closer.

"I don't think they're new," I said, "they look too comfortable with this school." He nodded as Pete, an acquaintance of mine, walked over and sat next to me.

"Me and my girlfriend got in a fight," he said. I nodded. He always told me about his girlfriend, but never used a name.

"What was it about?" I asked. He sighed.

"I told her that she was being distant and she said she was fine and I told her that she was definitely not fine. But she's being Cecilia and told me to leave it alone and I pushed her more and she told me to leave her alone." Cecilia. Did he say Cecilia?

Cecilia Joseph was the one person in this school that I noticed. With her black hair, hazel eyes, and tan skin, she was so beautiful. I've had a crush on her since eighth grade. But, she never noticed me. That being said, I never stopped having a crush on her.

"Cecilia?" I asked. He nodded.

"Cecilia Joseph. And I think she's breaking up with me." My heart crushed. Pete was dating her?

"Maybe it was time," I murmured, thinking about how stupid I was to not know that Pete was dating her. While I was thinking, the worst thing that could have possibly happened, happened. Cecilia walked over.

"Pete," she said, almost whispering, "we need to talk." I couldn't help but to stare at her. She was gorgeous. Her short, black hair. Her hazel eyes.

"Damn right," he said, laughing a little. She didn't find it funny. She just kept a poker face.

"I'm not in the mood," she said. He nodded and they walked off to somewhere. I couldn't even believe it.

"Isn't that...?" Frank asked. I nodded.

"The Cecilia that I've had a crush on since eighth grade. Yes." He put a hand on my shoulder.

"Sorry. Well, they're probably breaking up now so you might have a chance." I shook my head.

"A girl like that could never like a guy like me."
