Cecilia's POV

And with a few words, I broke up with Pete outside of the cafeteria doors. Right in front of his friends.

"But we can work!" he exclaimed, running after me and putting a hand on my shoulder. I slung his hand off.

"No it can't. Leave me alone. For real." I walked off to Tyler, who was talking to Josh, his best friend.

"Did you break up?" Tyler asked. I nodded and slid down the tree trunk. They both sat down beside me.

"I'm sorry, Cecilia," Josh said. I shook my head.

"No. I'm fine. Just need to sit here for a minute." They both nodded and stayed silent until the bell rang.

That day, I went through school numb. I didn't feel sad, happy, or anything in between. Then again, I started noticing people like me. There was a black haired short boy that had a lip ring. All I saw was him. He was everywhere.

When I went home, Tyler told me about two guys he'd met that day. One was named Frank and one was named Mikey. They were his friends.

"I invited them over. They're going to be at the house at four." I nodded and walked in to something unexpected.

Mom was sitting at the kitchen table, Dad sitting in front of her.

"I invited friends over," Tyler mumbled. They both nodded, then shooed us off. I walked into my room, just to see my little sister sitting on my bed crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked, sitting next to her. She sniffled.

"Mom and Dad fought. Like, really bad." I nodded and pulled her into a hug.

"It's alright, Mad," I said, comforting her, "it'll be alright." She nodded and hugged me back.

"Thank you, Cec." I nodded and let her go. She walked into her room as the doorbell rang. Tyler ran down the stairs and answered it. Five minutes later, his face was in my doorframe.

"Heyyyyyy Cec?" he asked. I sighed.

"What?" I asked with a small smirk.

"Wanna hang out with us?" I shook my head.

"Not now. Maybe later. I've got something to do." He nodded and walked off as I looked at the box on my bed.
