Chapter Twenty-Five - Mario Kart and explanations.

River was sitting on her bed, using her laptop when Owen walked into her bedroom.

"Hey," Owen said leaning on the doorframe and River just ignored him and Owen sighed before sitting on her bed.

"River, you can't ignore me. I can only ignore you, that's how shit goes around here," Owen said and River just blanked him out and Owen started poking her leg with his finger.

"Pay...attention...to...me," Owen said poking her between words and River just ignored him.

"Are you mad because I hurt your feelings? Don't be sad, little sis," Owen said and River just glared at him.

"I'm two months older than you, and suddenly I'm your sister again?" River asked and Owen sighed.

"I'm sensing a lot of pent up anger," Owen said and River just smacked him at the back of his head.

"Of course I'm fucking angry. Get out of my fucking room," River said and Owen shook his head before putting his head on her lap and looking up at her.

"Talk to me. I'm tired of being this moody teenage boy that's angry at everyone. Do you know how lonely it is? I'm bored, I don't know how Jughead does it all the time," Owen said and River rolled her eyes before going back to ignore him.

"Thank you, for letting me sleep in your bed. You really are the best, Riv," Owen said and River just ignored him again.

"I'm sorry for nearly outing you to mom and dad and I'm sorry for yelling at you in my room," Owen apologised and River just ignored him and Owen groaned before tugging on her hair and River gasped before slapping him hard on the face.

There was a short silence before Owen and River started laughing loudly.

"I'm sorry. Please forgive so I have someone to play Mario kart with," Owen said and River just rolled her eyes.

"You really want to play Mario Kart? I'll kick your ass Owen," River said and Owen smiled before sitting up and pulling his sister into a hug.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll play with you, but only if you tell me what happened on your date with Veronica," River said and Owen sighed before nodding.

"Um...basically, me and Veronica were having one of our late night phone calls-" Owen began before River interrupted him.

"You guys have late night phone calls?" River asked slightly jealous and Owen rolled his eyes.

"I also have late night phone calls with Betty and Jughead. So relax," Owen said and River chuckled before nodding at him urging him too continue.

"So, I mentioned my real parents and I told her I wanted to find them.  She encouraged me to do so and she said she'll help me. The past few days Veronica and I have been looking my birth mother up. We went to the orphanage to get my files, we googled her and we found an address. On the day of our date we drove out of Riverdale and to Greendale where my 'mother' lives," Owen said pausing to swallow a lump in his throat.

"So, we both go up and knock on her door and this girl answers, she looked roughly around my age. We tell her we are here to see Lucinda Ray, my birth mother, and she says okay. Then it gets really fucking weird. I expected something heartwarming to happen, but she just said that there was a reason she gave me up for adoption," Owen said and River nodded.

"What was the reason, Wen?" River asked her brother and Owen cleared his throat to stop himself from crying.

"Because she didn't want to raise twins. The girl that answered the door, was my twin sister. My mother said it was a random selection. She flipped a coin to see which child would be given up for adoption. What kind of mother does that? So, I leave the trailer, without Veronica, and luckily Lucinda didn't live too far from a liquor shop," Owen said while chuckling before continuing.

"They didn't even ask for ID, anyway I bought a few bottles and sooner or later I got drunk. Veronica found me two hours later and hulled my drunk ass back to the car, I think she had a mini panic attack about driving but pulled herself together and dropped me home," Owen said and River just nodded before closing her laptop and wrapping her arms around Owen.

"I'm sorry your mom didn't want you," River said and Owen chuckled before hugging her back.

"Go on, say I told you so," Owen said after they pulled away and River smiled.

"I told you so," River said in sing song and Owen just rolled his eyes before playfully throwing a pillow at her.

"Come on, Little sis. Let's go play Mario kart," Owen said and River groaned.

"I'm two months older than you," River said and Owen just chuckled.

It's been a week since River and Veronica's little argument and River has been ignoring her since.

River was standing at her locker when Veronica approached her.

"Are you still ignoring me?" Veronica asked and River just pretended she didn't see or hear her.

"River, I'm sorry. I kinda miss talking to you," Veronica said and River just ignored her.

"You miss me too, I know you do," Veronica continued and River just closed her locker before walking away.
