River was cleaning the counter top at pops when Jughead walked into the diner and sat on one of the stools.

"Can I have a cheeseburger with fries please," Jughead said and River nodded.

"Five dollars," River said and Jughead shook his head.

"I meant, can I have it for free," Jughead said and river raised an eyebrow at him.

"Why should you get a free burger?" River asked while putting a hand on her hip.

"Because I was homeless?" Jughead said and River shook her head.

"That excuse has expired," River said and Jughead rolled his eyes.

"Because I solved a murder?" Jughead tried and River shook her head.

"I don't care, Scooby Doo. Try again." River said and Jughead glared at her.

"My father is in prison," Jughead said and River wanted to say no but gave in. She wrote down Jugheads order on her notepad before ripping the paper out and putting it on the line so the chef can make it.

"That excuse expires next month," River said and Jughead chuckled. Before he could reply the door of Pop's chimed and in walked Veronica, she waved at Jughead before going to sit down in a booth.

"Are you going to talk to her?" Jughead asked and River shrugged, still looking at the raven haired girl.

"You should. Otherwise Owen wins," Jughead said and River shrugged before looking at Jughead.

"Why are we even competing for her. She's human not an object," River said and Jughead shrugged.

"You want her, Owen wants her and you can't both have her can you? Owen is going to be so smug when he finds out you didn't talk to her when you had the chance," Jughead said and River glared at him.

"You're loving this aren't you?" River asked and Jughead smirked while shrugging.

"I do find it entertaining," Jughead said and River just glared at him.

"It's kinda sad if you don't talk to her. I was rooting for you," Jughead continued and River sighed before looking back at the raven haired girl.

"Fine." River said before jumping over the counter and walking over to Veronica.

"H-Hey, Veronica," River said awkwardly and Veronica smiled up at her.

"Hey, Rita? That's your name right? We have English together right?" Veronica said and River shook her head.

"It's, uh, River actually, and uh, w-we actually have history together not English," River corrected awkwardly and Veronica nodded.

"Are you going to take my order?," Veronica asked and River nodded.

"Y-yeah," River stuttered and Veronica nodded.

"I'm waiting for Betty, so I'll just have a chocolate milkshake," Veronica said and River nodded.

"I'll be back in a second," River said before walking back over to the counter.

"So, how did it go, Rita?" Jughead said smugly while putting some fries in his mouth and River rolled her eyes before pulling Jughead's plate away from him.

"Rita says no more free food," River said and Jughead laughed.
