The next day Alexander walked confidently to school with John at his side (He was still not speaking to Lafayette, and should figure what to do about that soon). When he walked across the school doors everyone in the halls avoided eye contact with him, some even started walking towards the opposite direction of Alexander.

He smirked, proud of himself. But at his side, John only held a confused expression on his face.

"What's up with everyone?" He whispered to him, his warm breath tickling his neck and making the smaller boy giggle silently.

"I dunno" He lied.

They both continued their way towards the classroom, and while John wasn't looking, Alex shot a threatening glare at the people who made him look suspicious in front of his lover.

John looked for Alexander after their fifth period so they could eat lunch together. Though, Alex wasn't waiting for him outside his classroom like he usually did. He kept looking for the boy with the messy hair and old converses but he didn't find him.

Just when John was bout to take out his phone and call his boyfriend, he heard angry murmurs and the sound of yelps of pain and kicks on the hall besides him. Letting his curiosity win over his rational side, John carefully got closer to the noise, poking his head out the wall discretely.

"The hell did you just said!?" Someone yelled at a bruise-covered boy on the floor. The person standing was giving John his back, his dark brown hair covering his shoulders.

"I said that your little boytoy is just a stupid fa—" A kick on the face made him shut up for a few seconds before he smirked. "He's probably just using you as his cover to hide his gay"

The short person had enough of the other boy, and started beating him up worst than John had ever seen anyone do before (Not like he had seen many people get beaten up, but still). He was gonna leave, not wanting to get involved in the fight, but just as he was backing away, he took a glance at the person's now revealed face.

Alexander.

His Alexander.

"A–Alex!?" John stuttered without really thinking.

The dark haired boy tensed and slowly turned around, meeting his lover's astounded eyes. Alexander's confident facade crumbled at the sight of his boyfriend, fearing his greatest fear would now be a reality.

Fearing that that look on John's face was disappointment.

"John" He breathed, leaving the almost unconscious boy on the ground and walking towards the freckled boy slowly and fearfully.

"What are you doing..?"

"I– I just–, He was–, I–, you– John.."

"Alex"

"If you would've only heard the shit he said about you" He defended himself. "I doubt you would've let it slide and I was not about to!"

"You didn't have to"

"You're my fucking boyfriend of course I had to!"

John sighed and rubbed his temple with his long freckled fingers. "Is this why people were looking at you like that this morning?"

Alexander stayed quiet, suddenly appearing to be very interested on that little droplet of blood on the ground.

"Why?"

"Because John" He whispered, his voice raising a little with every word. "I'm tired of being the victim here, it's not fair, it's not fucking fair!"

When he saw tears starting to scape the boy's fearful eyes and his body shaking John decided to just drop it, and pulled his boyfriend to a reassuring hug.

"We'll figure this out later"
