Chapter 10 - A Bet

**HUNTER'S POV**

"Your gonna hear me roar-r-r-r..." I sang as a walked to the beat of the song in my head. I started to walk back to me and Alyssa's room. I just finished up at the vending machine in the lobby. I didn't know if Shawn was done talking to Alyssa. "I might as well go and see instead of awkwardly stand here in the lobby." I thought to myself. I walked over to the elevator door and clicked the up button. As I waited for the big metallic doors to slide open, I teared apart the bag of M&M's I just bought.

Even though, technically, our room was just up stairs, I didn't want to use them. They were probably old and dusty since no one really uses them. When the elevator finally opened, I saw that I had the whole thing to myself. I stepped in and pressed 2, for the second floor. I felt the jolt if the elevator as it began to ascend up the shaft. I got to thinking.

"It only took me about 2 minutes to get down to the lobby. There is no way Shawn and Alyssa were done." I thought to myself. I decided to explore the hotel, because... why not?

The hotel had 10 floors in total. I clicked the button with the number 10 on it. The door slid open on the second floor, I thought of just getting out, like my original plan, but I ended up taking to long for a decision so the door slid closed right in front of me. Too late.

Finally, I reached the tenth floor. The doors opened and I stepped out. The place was like any other hotel to be honest. I had the exact same layout as the second floor. I started walking down the hall. I walked straight down aimlessly, not really sure what I was doing. All I knew was that I had time to kill.

Whoosh! A gust of cold wind came from behind me and hit my skin. I felt the hairs of my neck stand on end. All I saw was a tall streak of something with dark brown at the top.

"Jack?" I asked the mystery sprinter.

"What?" I heard his confused voice say. "Oh my god, um hey Hunter! Didn't see you there!" He said laughing.

"Obviously!" I laughed. "Um why are you running around the halls?" I asked.

His beautiful brown eyes stared deep into mine. "Oh," he said as he turned his big broad body around in my direction. "Me and the boys are looking for Shawn. Have you seen him?"

I watched his body language. He was really tense. Almost nervous. Was he scared to talk to me? Oh crap. I probably scared the living crap out of him when I went to his room with the boys. He must think I'm a freak! He probably regrets ever inviting me.

"Yea!" I exclaimed a little to loud. "He's on the second floor. Why are you looking for him?" I didn't want to sound noisy, I was just wondering.

"Aw! Yes! Thank you so much!" He started to say. "Me and the boys were going out to get breakfast. So we made a bet to see who could find him first. Thanks for your help."

"No problem, anytime" I replied.

Jack turned away. I was very disappointed. He didn't give me any clues. No way to know if he liked me the way I liked him. For him, I bet, it's a just a mutual thing. For me, well, it's a whole different ball game.

"Bye" I whispered to myself. It was intended for his ears, but I didn't have the heart to say it. I opened up my hand as if he said to me and I had to reply. My heart sunk to my stomach. He didn't care about me. I turned and walked away, the opposite direction Jack was walking. My head hung down in sadness and defeat. I stuffed my hands into my shorts pockets and

slumped away.

"Oh!" I heard him say faintly. "Hunter!"

My ears instantly perked up and I raised my head and turned around. "Yes?" I shouted to him from the other end of the hall.

"I need to talk to you after Magcon tonight." He said. "Meet me back stage. And if you don't mind, just bring yourself." He finished politely.

I knew what he meant. Don't bring Alyssa. "Why the hell, would he want to see me?" I asked myself. "Um, yea sure! See you then!" I answered. I turned and began to walk away again. I was so excited!

"Bye Hunter!" was all I heard.

**JACK'S POV**

"Let's go, I need to win this." I said to myself as I flew down the hall. I was thinking of what the boys are going to get at the diner we were going to.

Ever since the mysterious disappearance of Shawn this morning, the boys were wondering where he went. We knew he was somewhere in the hotel. None of knew where though. We were all in the common room, fooling around when Taylor came up the idea to place a bet.

"Guys! How bout this!" He started as he tied his bandana around his head. "Let's make a bet. The first one to find Shawn, gets a free breakfast that everyone else has to chip in for?" I suggested.

"I'm in!" Nash said.

"Same!" Johnson agreed.

"I'm down!" said Cam.

"Sure!" said Carter and Matt

"Okay!" Aaron said.

"Let's go!" I said.

"Alright guys the game starts in 3....2..." Taylor bolted out the door.

The guys and I nearly tackle each other to get through the doorway. "Matt move your fat ass!" I said laughing. We all are dying of laughter big we still mange to exit the room. Everyone takes off in different directions. I was the last one out of the room. I was the second to get out, but I had forgotten my phone, so I needed to go back inside after everyone left.

I walked back out to a empty hallway. And here I am now. I started sprinting down to the stairwell as fast as I could. I nearly knocked over this girl was quietly walking in the hall.

"Jack?" I heard Hunters voice say.

"Shit!" I thought to myself.

Ok so I'm sorry I have been taking a lot longer to update. It's just that I just had my spring break and I tried not to waste it at home so I have been out and stuff. I'm sorry and I promise I will update more often from now on.
